Dunelm sent us the wrong bed

Had a bit of a nightmare today. Bought a standard double bed from dunelm. Decided today was the day to assemble it (whilst watching the Queen's funeral) and then realised (stupidly after we had got it all out and started assembling) they have sent us a small double bed. I literally cried. We have packed it back up and this took longer than it probably would have to make the bloody thing, and we haven't been able to repackage the same as the way it came ro us. They are not open today so I have messaged them. Does anyone know if there would be a problem returning the bed and getting the right one, bearing in mind we had actually opened it and repackaged it? I know it was their mistake but I should have checked it was the right measurement on the box before opening the flipping thing.

They haven’t sent you what you ordered and paid for, there won’t be any issue to return it.
Very annoying though.

Even though we'd opened it, got it all out then repackaged it (probably quite badly)?

Absolutely fine. They take curtains back as long as you haven't pulled up the strings.

That's reassuring thanks. It's obviously one of these 1st world problems, but really has caused a lot of stress today! The house has been in a state of disarray whilst we got the bed situation sorted out and looks like it's now going to be like this a bit longer 🙄

No. It will be fine. You’re protected I believe under statutory rights as it’s the wrong bed. Don’t quote me on that though!

whatever their terms and conditions may say, you’re protected under contract law as they sent you the wrong item.

You can definitely return it.
