Help me move away from grey....

I'm ready for a change in the living room but really don't know where to start. I can't afford to replace the sofas so looking to just paint and change the curtain, cushions etc.
The room is only small, we have a corner sofa and a single seater. Wooden floor which needs to stay, and a log burner. All the walls are pale grey will the alcoves a slightly darker gray. Would I be better going with a neutral wall and coloured accessories? Or getting some colour on the walls maybe? I honestly struggle to know where to start!

I went with a neutral colour on the walls (Portland Stone) and a soft whit on woodwork/beams (Loft White). Both from Little Greene Paint Co.

I then mix it up with curtains/cushions/throws/etc. Have got warm colours for autumn/winter and fresh colours for spring/summer. Means that my living room gets a new look twice a year with not too much cost.

I’ve got a grey sofa, walls are teal tension feature wall and timeless on the others. I kept the pale pink blinds that previous owners left and accessorised with bright cushions with teal, hot pink, yellow, green in them.

The colour I loved in my last house was Dulux tranquil dawn (grey-green), looked amazing on the walls.
