I'm looking for a large white metal/wooden storage unit, with doors, for an alcove 3.5 feet wide by 6/7 feet high by 1-1.5 feet deep . Any recommendations?

Can you live with a shelf midway?
If so a Billy bookcase with doors from IKEA.
You can configure to your heart's content so plenty of options for finish, height, width, shelves, doors etc.
