What to have instead of carpet in the bedroom

I want to decorate the two bedrooms, what's stopping me is that I don't know what to replace the carpets with

I looked at luxury vinyl , but vinyl send to get bad press in bedrooms re toxicity

Don't like laminate

So happy to get thoughts

What about proper hardwood (pine or oak) or engineered wood?

If it's in the budget, it's beautiful.

That's what we have in three living room, it was in when we bought the house. I hadn't thought about that option thought,
Thats definitely a possibility, will need to price it

We sanded down the existing 1930s pine boards in our bedrooms and it’s really nice (IMO), and was relatively inexpensive to do.

Engineered wood to match a downstairs would also be beautiful. I wouldn’t do vinyl in a bedroom, just because it lacks (visual) warmth.
