We bought some chairs for the lounge, some years ago. As I'd had a lot of back trouble at the time, I was very particular about getting chairs which were flat-seated, firm & comfortable. I went back twice to check them out, to make sure they were right before we bought them.
When they arrived & we used them, I thought I must've made a mistake, as they weren't so comfortable, & I went back to using a chair we already had. But after a bit I thought this was silly, & I gave them another go. They definitely went down towards the back of the seat, so I bought a big foam wedge & that worked for a while.
In the meantime, I saw a thread on MN where the poor OP had just taken delivery of two sofas which were of no use to her because they gave her back pain & the ones in the shop hadn't! IIRC at least one answer was that chairs & sofas on display in shops are made differently than the ones you actually buy. Is this what's wrong with my chairs?
Now we're at the point of either throwing out these chairs or trying to get the seats of them changed somehow, as all the seat supports seem to be disintegrating & they were never right in the first place.
Is it true that shop display models are radically different from the real product? How is this legal?
Does anyone have any advice? The chairs (apart from the seats) are in good condition, match the decor & we still like them.
