Inspiration for Stiffkey blue by Farrow and Ball in a bedroom

Hi all

We are looking to redecorate our master bedroom before baby number 2 comes along! However, I am lacking inspiration (probably due to being pregnant and having an 1.5 year old running around and so have double baby brain).

The one definite is that we will be painting one or two walls in stiffkey blue by Farrow and Ball. We will then compliment this on the remaining walls with either ammonite or cornforth white . We haven't decided which yet, so am open to preferences or other suggestions that won't make the room too dark alongside the blue but will still give it a cosy feel. It gets a lots of sunlight in the late afternoon and evening.

We also won't be changing the furniture as it's fairly new and is solid oak (dark). I can't find the exact product but it's the same colour as this.

There is also a lot of white in the room as all of the woodwork including a double fitted wardrobe and two doors are white, as is the bedhead.

I have always had matching bedding and curtains in the past, but am looking to change it up a bit this time. I was thinking plain curtains with a nice eye catching duvet cover that either compliments or contrasts the colours of the walls etc. The only must with this is that the curtains. must be blackout and preferably pencil pleat.

We will also be having a new carpet in a dark(ish) colour, probably a grey and a fairly deep pile.

So, looking for some suggestions for bedding, curtains, bedside lamps, lampshades, rugs and anything else that you can think of that would compliment Stiffkey blue in a bedroom.

Thanks

I have Stiffkey blue downstairs and have paired it with Egyptian cotton (Dulux). I had planned on using ammonite but it looked a purple/grey shade next to the Stiffkey blue.

The Egyptian cotton is a fairly safe Greige colour and we chose a carpet almost the same colour. Pleased with the end result. I will say though that dark blue was a nightmare to paint. Our decorator had to have several goes at it, it showed every bump in the wall and marked easily to begin with. I do love that combo though.

good luck!

DS has Stiffkey Blue in his south facing bedroom on 3 walls and a light grey on the other. His furniture is IKEA oak (the darker one). It's very dark. He loves it but it's too dark for me. If you want cosy I'd be going a shade lighter and looking at Oval Room Blue tbh.
