Is it possible to buy British made wooden plantation shutters?

Just that really- looking at shutters for our kitchen and a bit of research seems to suggest that basically all the wooden shutters available to the UK market are made in China- a little more digging reveals they’re all even made in the same factory. Some advertise as British made but are just assembled here after being manufactured in China.
What’s the deal? There’s obviously a reason, presumably proximity of raw materials, labour costs etc but it seems odd that there doesn’t even seem to be an option to get British made ones. Just seems odd.

Would a carpenter or cabinet maker be able to do this for you?

Maybe, I’m going to ask our local carpenter who made our windows and doors but no one seems to advertise it as a service, there seems to be some sort of weird monopoly!

Shutter craft are made in China - I’m all to familiar with their lead times 🙈

I’ve recently signed up for a trade account with britishmadeshutters they’re made in Evesham I believe and lead times aren’t as long as their competitors (thankfully) I’ve yet to use them but have heard good things. They are trade only so you maybe best ringing them and asking for the retailer/s in your area.

@BF2748 thanks- I had seen those but it says they’re faux wood. I guess that could be a benefit but it would be good to see them. I might drop them a line, thanks!

@Justanothernametoday thanks. They don’t cover my area unfortunately and I have a sneaking suspicion they are made in China too though it’s hard to tell from the website.
