Show me your unused fireplaces!

I've had a fake "fireplace" opening created in our lounge. So it's just blank, and the carpet runs into it currently - no tiled hearth.

It has as wood mantle shelf.

WHAT ON EARTH AM I GOING TO PUT INTO IT?!

please - suggestions welcome.

It can't be a plant, we have house rabbit...

So far I've got a large hurricane lamp, with candle, but I'd love some better inspiration.

Any suggestions please? And better still, please show me yours?!

Couldn't face taking the wood out so softened it with some lights and removed the nickname

This would make me wonder of there was something wrong with the chimney you were trying to hide. Like it was collapsing and the wood was hold it up.

I just boarded it up and shoved some bits there. A sofa bed lives there too. The room is also my office!

Maybe I should do something nicer with it!

I have 2 unused fireplaces downstairs. Would appreciate feedback as we have photographer coming next week to take pics as putting house on the market.

@FitAt50 - that is gorgeous! My fireplace is tiled and painted but I haven’t seen any fire screens i like, yet…

I’d love to put wood in mine but slight mouse issue and don’t want mice to nest there.
