Where do you buy second hand furniture from

As the title says really!

I'm buying a house on my own after a separation. All I have is a lovely mattress, some garden chairs and limited funds so I wanted to try and get a few second hand bits. I've tried Facebook marketplace but it seems to have been taken over by hundreds of entries by the same sellers for brand new sofas/beds for £30 (so I assume they are scams). I've also been watching the local buy/sell groups which are full of MLM posts.

Where else could I try? Where would you advertise if you were selling a decent used bed, sofa or wardrobe?

Loads of stuff is given away on local facebook groups near us.
Try searching with terms like 're-use' or 'recycle' or 'gifting' as well as 'selling' and 'marketplace'.

When you are starting out, friends and family often have things they don't need, but haven't put out 'just in case' if you ask around too.

But, to add to the BHF Chrity shops, the Sue Ryder Charity shop also sells furniture.
Then one of the local tips has a 'Re-use' shop at it - might be worth looking in to where you live?

I've had a couple of bits from Facebook Marketplace, I found them on a local group.

Local auction. They are very cheap for general furniture, but you do need to be able to transport what you buy fairly quickly.

One auction I went to failed to sell a really nice sofa and chairs for £3 and it was given to a local charity shop instead.
