Home decoration

Finishing touches in bedroom to create the luxury feel.

I've just had the bedroom decorated and fitted with new wardrobes. The new storage has certainly given a more streamline look also helped by a massive declutter.

The room is just feeling a bit blah, and whilst I don't want a lot of stuff, I just want to add a little luxury and personal touch.

Any ideas?

A large plant, nice artwork, big plump beautiful cushions and throw. A well dressed bed is key

Beautiful print or painting over the bed. Stylish bedside lamps. A beautiful throw. A really good overhead lampshade.

I hate cushions on beds. They get thrown on the floor when you sleep and then thrown back on the bed when you don't. They aren't of any practical use.

I have some beautiful bedside lamps. Couldn't have a picture over the bed, I would be scared it would fall on my head when I'm asleep.

I agree about bed cushions, they are of no use.

Perhaps a decorative (but not too large) wall mirror even if you have a mirrored door on the fitted wardrobe.
Crisp white bedlinen but colourful throw and/or cushions, the latter not necessarily on the bed!
Comfortable chair with footstool if you have the space for it?

I have some like these

They are 50 cm square, so quite large and look good on white Lloyd Loom type chairs. Not cheap though 😬

We have art on other walls but not above bed.

Large-ish Statement lighting
Big Rugs on top of the carpet
A couple of beautiful objects" on the dresser

I hadn't thought about a rug. Currently just wood flooring.

I'd add plants of different sizes and types in some beautiful pots. They always make a room less soulless and more homely (an issue with newly painted and decluttered rooms IMO). If you go for lush and large it can help create a luxurious feel.
I also think rooms look underdressed until they have a few pictures or paintings on the wall.

Treat yourself to some new bed linen? As in... Real linen. I bought 2 sets (mix and match and a really big soft throw) from the secret linen company last year and now I never have that in between time with a less favourite set on the bed! They look good kind of casually unmade, too Wink

A small velvet armchair in a jewel colour.
