Where on earth do I buy really nice, good quality, bedroom furniture?

We have a bedroom move around coming up soon due to oldest adult DC moving out permanently. We are moving into her room and I want to replace all the furniture, flooring and decorate. We need lots of storage and I want something traditional and solid but also quirky if possible, maybe a little bit French/ ornate?
Not Ikea - I have approx 7 years old Pax in every bedroom at the moment and it has not worn well - doors are crooked and drawer runners loose etc. I do not want this again. The John Lewis stuff looks a bit meh. I would consider secondhand and have upcycled an old Stag mahogony sideboard for the home office which looks ok but way too effortful to do a whole bedroom set. The stag quality is excellent though.
I just have no idea where to look. Your standard retail park shop stuff - Dunelm and Oak furnitureland etc. - I don't trust to last. Budget is about 3k bout would go a bit higher if the stuff was REALLY nice.
Please can I have your recommendations? Supporting photos of your own lovely bedroom furniture would be amazing. Thanks.

We bought our main bedroom furniture here, about 15 years ago.

It’s been moved once (with removal firm disassemble and rebuild for the wardrobe) and it is totally solid. I couldn’t recommend more, it not cheap.

Revival beds are amazing. Very traditional and built to last. They are a bit pricey though. Smile

I got mine from oak furniture land over 5 years ago and it’s all still going well and survived moving house with no problems. I had so much bedroom furniture that I’ve used it all around my new house and bought some extra matching pieces such as dining table and coffee table. It’s not French or ornate though, it’s painted a putty colour with a rustic oak top otherwise I’d post a pic.

This site sells some nice furniture at reasonable prices in the style you wish.

The thing is it depends what you wish. Do you need wardrobes for example? Bedside table, wardrobes, flooring and dressing table if you want to do the lot, then three grand isn’t a huge budget.

We bought our bedroom furniture with our wedding money (Sikh wedding so traditional to give money). It’s from Willis and Gambier and is 17 years old. It still looks beautiful and has “aged” in that wonderful way wood does. I love it and could never part with it

Heritage wardrobe company or Neptune both gorgeous and great quality

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 27/10/2021 20:57

Not Loaf, I had a bed from there and the quality was shit.

Revival beds here too. We have our sleigh bed, wardrobe, and a few draw sets from there. We have gone for traditional and cosy.

I was going to post this same question so thanks, this thread is very helpful.
Sorry if this is a daft question but I'm just wondering how people get their antique/secondhand double & triple wardrobes into their bedrooms? Do they tend to come apart and assemble easily or do you need a specialist to do this?

Easternfells · 29/10/2021 19:08

Susie Watson? Very relaxing vibe and all handmade, apparently very good company for its employees in India

Babamamananarama · 30/10/2021 10:32

Carryonmarion large antique wardrobes usually come apart into several sections. They then slot perfectly back together again, it's all clever carpentry as the pieces aren't screwed together.

DrNo007 · 30/10/2021 19:16

All mine is either antique or stag minstrel. If you search stag minstrel on eBay it is easy to put together a matching set. It is great quality and often a fraction of the price of new.

A bit late to the thread but if you want wooden furniture made to last, try Taurus Beds. They only make wooden beds plus accompanying bedroom furniture. Really solid, nice, British-made furniture.

PlanDeRaccordement · 10/11/2021 23:09

I usually go to an auction house and bid on antique furniture. Can get really nice heirloom quality furniture that way.

SexyNeckbeard · 10/11/2021 23:14

We got a fantastic quality bed from eat sleep live but it wasn't cheap - well worth it though

marsdon · 10/11/2021 23:15

Funky chunky furniture. Goggle them Ive brought 2 beds of them in 2 different styles and bedroom furniture
It's all really made well and real heavy solid wood will last for years.

ethelredonagoodday · 11/11/2021 06:56

Auction houses and eBay/FB market place for second hand furniture. Also like some others above, we have bought lots of mid century and more recent Ercol, which is very well made.
