John Lewis table - online order now out of stock

Hiya, I don't know if anyone's had experience of this and wanted to pick your brains as the JL customer service were no help at all.

I placed an order for a table in August, it was marked up as a pre-order with a 3 week wait. Ok, not a problem. I had confirmation, receipt etc. It's now listed as out of stock with no known restock date.

Does this mean my order may be cancelled, or is it out of stock after the pre-order? The customer service person said she could see my order but had no information other than what I can see on screen.

I'd just like my table, or a refund. I don't mind waiting, but I'd like to know it's coming and a vague idea of when of that makes sense?

In your situation I'd assume my order had been accepted so there was stock coming, but that supply is now sold. When are your 3 weeks up?

@Zinnia 3 weeks was up last week. I think that's what I'm hoping - but their communication is non existent so the fact that customer service didn't know was worrying

@gardeninggirl68 that's what I'm worried about. Especially given the issues with stock of everything right now.

Well I shall hope there are some on their way and see what happens. But start looking at alternatives just in case Thanks all.

There are a lot of supply chain issues at the moment, I work for a distributor and things are really tough at the moment. Covid, Brexit, increased shipping costs and the Suez Canal delays have caused absolute chaos so I wouldn't be surprised if at least one of the above has had an effect on your order. Good luck

This happened to me. Pre-ordered knowing there was a 3 month wait. Paid in advance. Delayed. Delivery cancelled twice, both 24 hours before delivery due. Customer services had no idea of delivery status as item was in stock, then immediately out of stock, online. Pretty unhelpful customer services. Found email for CX of JL via an online search. Emailed explaining what had happened. Got the item within a couple of weeks. Have used JL for years and had no trouble until now. The logistics and supply chain are under massive pressure across lots of industries at the moment, but my concern was I had paid in full and no one could tell me if I would ever receive the goods. Seems to be a new thing of customer paying in full up front and carrying all the risk. I won’t do this again, but would pay a small deposit. Hope you get your item Smile

I thought it used be they wouldn't charge you until dispatch. I had a big issue with JL a few Christmasses ago, but I wasn't charged as the items never arrived. You could see 3 authorisation amounts of £1 on my credit card pending transactions for JL for absolutely months, but the full value wasn't put through. The more annoying thing is they let other items go out of stock waiting to send unrelated things together.

I've been waiting for a piece of furniture from Made.com since March, apparently it's arriving end of October 🤷‍♂️.
