What are your favourite ranges in this brand? Or do you prefer a different company? Opinions please; looking for a new set x

@KirstenBlest I’m going to have a look around the local charity shops now! I do love a bargain and have recently got a vase from Marie curie for £1

I have Denby Cotswold that I started buying in 1977 just after I got married. Ex Mr cobblers123 took the mugs when we split but I still have all the rest that we had accumulated.

I loved it but it's been in my dad's loft since about 1998 and about to come out as we are selling the house.

Maybe it's time I started using it again once it reappears. Grin

We have a dinner and tea service in Imperial Blue. Bought with wedding present money 19 years ago. We got "seconds" so we could buy more. We have moved house 14 times since then and only ever broken 1 plate. Bomb proof.

KirstenBlest · 23/07/2021 16:54

Ooh. I've not had anything very exciting recently, but it's a bit hit and miss.

My local ones have winter stuff. Things like padded parkas and woolly jumpers for about £1-3. I got a pair of Fly London faux leather biker boots for £1 yesterday. They look good but I'll need thick socks or insoles.

KirstenBlest · 23/07/2021 16:55

@cobblers123, the Denby Cotswold is really nice.

I've got Imperial Blue- mostly bought second hand and it's pretty bomb proof.

I've also got quite a few Cottage blue jugs, coffee pots and various chocolate cups and things. Just because I like the shaped and the colour

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 23/07/2021 17:32

I just bought £600 worth of imperial blue Denby with Tesco vouchers so worth a look of you have any vouchers.

SameToo · 23/07/2021 17:33

I have the halo set but much prefer my Royal Crown Derby sets.

ImbarbaraB · 23/07/2021 21:34

I was just passing through Debby today

Worth a trip if nearby to buy at discount

Offredismysister · 23/07/2021 21:46

I’ve got the Derby + Monsoon collaboration & it’s worn very well. I bought it in 2010 & it’s not got any chips or scratches. I have had other cheap sets from next & IKEA that haven’t lasted more than a year or so.

BeyondMyWits · 23/07/2021 21:55

We have Denby Greenwich, looks really classic and has lasted 22 years with one chipped plate... that we replaced from Gloucester quays Denby outlet store. Colour is still strong despite going in the dishwasher daily for all that time.

MrsTxx · 23/07/2021 22:03

I’m in the north east unfortunately! I’m sure MIL said there is an outlet nearby. Will have a google and go

Just joining in the Denby love. I’ve got Denby Reflex which we got in a wedding present 20 years ago. It’s survived a couple of house moves including being shipped half way round the world when we were overseas.

We have broken a couple of plates though. Tip for any cutlery marks, Cif will take them off or a magic eraser.

MIL has a set from the 70s that’s lovely. I think it might be called Arabesque.

gingergiraffe · 25/07/2021 00:42

I’ve had my Denby Potter’s Wheel for more than 40 years. Some items were presents, some seconds from the Denby shop and a few dinner plates from a charity shop. I still love it and it shows little sign of wear. I do regret buying a few items that are never used, such as the cruet set, coffee pot and tea pot but only one bowl has a chip and I don’t think we have ever had any breakages. Looks like it will see me out now!

In dalton park.

I have juice (long since discontinued) and some of it is 25 years old. Fairly recently replaced the few casualties using ebay.

WallpaperWonder · 25/07/2021 01:00

I'm using my family's collection of Denby Green Wheat that my mum had from the 1970s. I got it when it got too heavy for them to use (arthritis/old age). There are a few chips in it but given that it's come halfway around the world to get to me and is 50 years old it's doing pretty well.
It's no help to you but my mum died recently so it's a nice memory for me. There's a surprising amount of it to buy on Trade Me (NZ equivalent of eBay).

SusieSusieSoo · 25/07/2021 01:14

I have Denny Imperial Blue too! My df bought most of it for me & exp when we bought our house - along with our dining table & chairs "I'd like to buy you something but I can't afford a wedding he said..." the Denny has survived one buggering off many yes ago (he didn't dare suggest sharing it out!) and df who departed this life quite a few yrs ago too. Pps are right it has been pretty bombproof but I didn't realise you could still get it as it wasn't in Debenhams anymore last couple of times I looked. Could use some more serving dishes now Ds is bigger & massive ones often aren't much use to us. I have a giant fruit bowl (takes up far too much room) and my best serving dish is a square one I still just really luvs it GrinI gave the mugs away tho to the children's hospice shop I think

We have Regency Green which I bought from Harts of Stur when it was on offer a couple or so years ago, it goes on offer every so often in various places and occasionally on Amazon.

Beebumble2 · 26/07/2021 08:34

We’ve been a Denby family for decades. I grew up with the dark blue with yellow insides. My Aunts had the sage green and cream.
We’ve got Greenwhich, it’s about 30 years old and still going strong.
In our H/H we have Bistro, no chips or breakages.
My only issue is that it lasts so long and I fancy another design!

ZenNudist · 26/07/2021 08:40

I like Denby but I wouldn't replace it with a whole new set when it's easy to pick up extra bits on ebay and factory seconds stores. My range is 14 years old but still mostly good. Some chips because I bought a really rubbish one that has a wider pattern edge, not like the typical style. I also accidentally broke all the rice bowls so replaced them with the same in the plain white range from dunelm which complements well.

Its my only set. I have all of the range teapot milk jug etc so wouldn't want to replace it even though I could sell it.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/07/2021 08:42

I've got a Halo set, plus a few random bits. It's beautiful stuff.
