Help! What exactly isn't working with this decor? (Pics attached)

I'm in the middle of decorating my new flat and I've just had my hallway done and I used a pic I saw online for inspo (attached along with mine) but I don't love it and I can't quite work out why or what I need to change.
My thoughts are...
Is the dark grey dado just too dark in a real life setting? Should I paint it back to white?
The blue carpet will be changed to a neutral hard floor- could this be why I'm being thrown off?
Are the walls too cream? I used Dulux timeless which lots of people rave about on here and describe as a not creamy white but to me it looks very cream! Should I paint the top PBW to match the woodwork?

Any feedback appreciated :)

It will look entirely different when you have natural wood flooring instead of carpet. But also, the inspo picture has softening accessories such as the mirror, copper pot and hanging plant. I'd definitely add a mirror on the wall. Or a print. And swap the shade for something more up to date. That's an easy fix.

The carpet and light shade but you’re changing them. The accessories will help but I think yours lacks the sharper contrast in colour. The cream pink and grey in your hall is wishy washy. For me the light colour should be lighter and the dark rail really dark. Failing that I would do the rail white.

I think firstly the carpet but perhaps Timeless isn't the right colour. It's a strange colour, I only say this as I have it in my kitchen and with the light in there it looks bright white, you can't tell the difference between it and the actual brilliant white on the ceiling, it somehow looks off and i'm wanting to change it. The first pic looks like the lighter colour has a more pinky tone to me which matches better.

The top cream in the first photo has a pinkish undertone which goes with the warm bottom colour.

In your one, the cream has a sort of yellow undertone that clashes slightly with the warmer colour on the bottom.

I wouldn't change a thing until the new flooring is in though as I think that you won't notice it as much once the floor no longer blue

It's just the carpet that's wrong.

The carpet and lighting stand out. Also, you could consider painting the radiators the same colour as the walls, so they blend in

I like the wall colours. The carpet doesn't go at all. Try painting the dado white and spray the mirror rim gold or get a more ornate one. That should brighten things up.

Apart from all the points already made so far on thread, another thing is that the part of kitchen in the view from the entrance is not playing very well with the corridor. The end of the corridor is where the eye is drown and ideally the hall should harmoniously frame the kitchen bit. You may already have considered in long term what to do with the bright red in kitchen, but at the moment it doesn’t feel there is a flow from room to room. Are you going to do anything with the woodwork in corridor? At the moment it feels like you haven’t thought about them at all.
