If you have curtains with a lot of pattern, do you have a rug with a pattern too?

It's more about colour really....can you put some links up?

Yes, oriental rugs which usually have every colour in them somewhere and are very practical with kids and dogs! I have plain walls and sofas but patterned cushions. Look at older houses interiors - that kind of thing. Not modern but timeless.

I have partnered cushions and big footstool but plain curtains and rugs, unless it’s the same pattern on your rug and curtains I wouldn’t mix and match. I’d go for a plain rug with patterned curtains.

Its a very bohemian look…..

I have curtains with a big pattern in one room, and then a neutral rug which has a self pattern in it like, so it is all one colour but the pattern is raised. So it has texture.

I have another room with very pale gold damask curtains at one end and a very busy rug in the middle. So two patterns, but the damask, to me, is quite neutral

I watched Location location location night before last.
I don't know where it was filmed (perhaps Kirsty's home 🤷‍♀️) it was a recap show. Anyhow, everything in the room Kirsty and Phil were sitting in was patterned ..all different patterns. Have a look on catch up.
It looked fabulous but it was a very grand room.

Thanks for all of the replies Smile

The curtains are dark green with a flower print, including pink and blue - the window is pretty big, so they are very noticeable when closed. Cushions are plain pink and green.

I love Oriental rugs and the house is old, so looking at older house interiors is a good idea.

Although I like them, I’m almost regretting going with heavily patterned curtains in both reception rooms because I really want to fit an Oriental rug in somewhere! Damask is a better idea.

Thanks for the tip re Location Location Location, I will have a look.
