Recommend a parasol for a south-facing garden?

We're looking for a foldable parasol to put in your south-facing garden, to give some shade to the garden and to the kitchen French doors which back out onto the garden.

Being south-facing means the kitchen can easily be 10-12C warmer than outside; we had considered retractable awnings but they are very expensive, from £3 to £6k.

We have found some on John Lewis and other websites, but none can be seen in a shop, so we can't make sense of what the fabrics look like, how thick they are, and what's the difference between a £180 one and a £400 one.

Any experience / recommendations?

I have recently bought this one and was very pleased with it. The fabric is thick and good quality. I bought a separate heavy base. We previously had a cantilever one and it was annoying as it kept blowing around in the wind.

I looked at the JL ones but was put off by some of the reviews of Kettler. uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.kettler.co.uk
