Genuinely worried that they may be going under.
Ordered a £2k sofa in Feb, they took my money but haven’t yet delivered, no communication from them and my estimated despatch date has moved to June despite zero communication from them.

I only know this from checking my orders rather than then contacting me.

They’re still quoting a 2-3 week despatch date for the same sofa and when I queried that, they said that was correct (i.e. if I bought that exact same sofa today it’s a 2-3 week despatch). This is so misleading..

I’ve looked on Twitter and lots of people reporting the same issue.. major delays, poor customer service and “goodwill” compensation of £10!

On their website they are covering their backsides warning of delays out of their control but I don’t think that they’re being honest with new customers and they haven’t replied to my email.

I love the sofa but worried that they’re going out of business.. I’ll be covered as I paid by credit card, but would be so disappointed to have waited so long and in the meantime we don’t have a sofa.

Anyone else experiencing similar?

No idea but I assume this has been going on for a while as I've had my eye on a footstool for about a year and the lead time has always been 14-16 weeks!! I've hung on in the hope it would come down but it hasn't. I've noticed it's similar for other items on the website. Crazy really as I can't imagine it's all handmade to order.

abricotine · 13/04/2021 21:41

I bought a chair from them a while ago and the quality was very poor. It creaks when you sit down in it. I’d be glad you are going elsewhere OP

TheDogsMother · 13/04/2021 22:12

I've just ordered a floor lamp and the lead time is 8 - 10 weeks which seems a bit excessive.

Chihuahuacat · 13/04/2021 22:15

I ordered a desk in November and they advised 16 week delivery. It arrived about 2 weeks ago...

So it did turn up but took long enough

Cronyism · 13/04/2021 22:20

Sorry OP they’re awful to deal with.

Took me several months to extract a refund. So long that I had to pay a charge on my credit card bill for the first time in about twenty years, as I’d not realised they would pay so late. (My error for not checking).

They don’t answer incoming calls that aren’t sales and nor do they return calls or emails.... such a frustrating process.

I eventually wrote to head office and got the cash back that way.

No matter how lovely the item I’m never buying anything there ever again.

Be warned!

A huge percentage of furniture is imported from China. Made almost certainly is affected by this.

There is a chronic problem dating back to last March where containers are in the wrong place leading to shipping costs becoming astronomical and uneconomic. Its leading to huge delays and the Suez issue hasn't helped.

I am thoroughly unsurprised by this. All furniture importers are having massive problems with it atm. Especially since demand is up.

Cronyism · 13/04/2021 22:30

Our refund issue was a few years ago, so maybe theybe got worse...!

MeepleMe · 13/04/2021 22:38

I ordered 2 of something earlier this year which said it was 'Express' ie the UK warehouse already. After I ordered the expected arrival date changed to 8 weeks away. The two items arrived separately 8 and 9 weeks later. So whilst it was poor customer service the items did at least arrive eventually! I presumed it was shipping issues from China relating to pandemic/Brexit/Suez.

Cowbells · 13/04/2021 22:42

I ordered a sofa from them in November. Still hadn't heard in March so asked for refund. Tbf, they refunded the money very quickly. I bet their supply chain has been severely disrupted by Covid and Brexit.

happystory · 14/04/2021 07:14

That's a shame. I ordered a couple of things from them in 2020 (inc a chair), both came on time and I'm really pleased with them. So maybe Brexit is the issue....

userxx · 01/05/2021 13:00

I ordered a tv unit in March, the dispatch date is mid June, 12 weeks! Just checked today and it's been pushed back to the 7th of September. I've spoken to someone today and apparently it's due to shipping issues.

PlateSpinnerJuggler · 03/05/2021 04:13

It must be to do with the pandemic - I'm hearing of other places having issues with items coming in from China too...
I've bought my super king bed and dining chairs from made several years back - I love them both and was pleased with the service at the time.
This must be really hard for businesses to manage - hope things pick up soon for them!

Atreyu · 03/05/2021 11:36

I've ordered a lot of stuff from them over the last few months. Some stuff kept having the delivery date pushed back, which was very annoying, but in fairness, they gave me a refund immediately whenever I asked for one via the online chat. Most stuff arrived and I was very pleased with it.

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 04/05/2021 11:29

We ordered some lamps that came within days and are lovely. Also, an ottoman that took about 12 weeks and was faulty in a invisible-but-might-mean-it-doesn't-last-as-long sort of way. We hadn't seen anything else we liked that would have worked as well, and I didn't want to wait another 12 weeks for a replacement, so they offered us £10 compensation. DH haggled and got this up to £75, which we accepted.

Londono · 04/05/2021 11:34

The quality of what I've ordered from Made in the past has been poor - wonky legs etc after waiting an age for them to be delivered. I wouldn't use them again.

Saz12 · 05/05/2021 18:47

I’ve ordered kitchen chairs in the past, they’re utterly crap. Paint scratches and damaged from jeans pockets, one chair collapsed (metal leg sheered right through), plastic things on end of chair legs cracking. Just staggeringly crap quality. They weren’t particularly expensive but just such a waste all the same.
