We bought a 1920s fixer-upper in a ludicrously expensive part of the country a few years ago. It was the only way we could afford to get a house in such a prime location.

It’s been slow progress but we’re almost ready to start work on replacing the awful, 90s, yellowed melamine kitchen. The trouble is, I don’t know what I like. What’s good in kitchen design? No option for extending unfortunately- we’ve already exhausted all the avenues. So we’re stuck with the galley format. It’s quite wide but the space is a bit meh and uninspiring.

Has anyone seen transformative magic worked on a galley kitchen?

I have a galley kitchen so I hope someone will pop along and come up with suggestions!

I think a lot depends on the amount of light you have coming through? Ours is really dark so we're looking at light grey units, white ish tops, with gold accents and white tiles. Completely unoriginal, but I think works.

I always find ideas I like on Instagram, then realise they don't have top units. I just can't loose that much storage space!

It's hard to know without knowing how wide it is or bright.
If its narrow and you are not eating in, you could have one side the floor to ceiling units that are popular now, and just lower units the other side.

A bit like the wall of units plus island for prep idea you see everywhere.

Can you do a door or window seat at one end. I like this one.
