Perfect white paint

I suspect that this question has come up a million times, but....can you recommend the perfect white paint? Not F&B as decorator won’t use it. I don’t want any hint of cream or yellow, but also don’t want stark white....

Recommendations please! Thanks! Smile

@Mintae Johnstone's aren't cheap but the paint is excellent quality. Their scrubbable emulsion is brilliant. I ask them to mix the F&B colour of my choice (just make sure you take the name and the number from the F&B colour chart). They usually have a copy of the F&B chart "under the counter".

If I remember correctly it's about £40 for a large (5litre) can, so about half the price of F&B.

And All White is truly a gorgeous warm white. No yellow. I found Pointing and Wimborne White both too creamy.

Don't go for F&B Pointing, I have it in my downstairs loo and it's so yellow it looks like magonolia. I hate it.

Two pics attached, first is Wimborne White in a west facing bedroom, second is west facing living room (both get afternoon sun).

Both Johnstone's copies!

Excellent tips, thanks. I’d like a white with a slightly grey undertone to avoid any chance of it being yellow at all....

Assuming that the decorator’s objection to F&B is consistency rather than price then maybe Little Greene Shirting.

However the best white paint I have used recently is Dulux trade supermatt. It is the stuff with no vinyl which is usually used to seal new plaster and on ceilings. It is not hard-wearing at all and cannot be wiped so no good for hallway etc but we had a load leftover from ceiling painting and I used it during lockdown to paint the areas above the tiling in our bathroom which are never touched. It is a perfect chalky pure white. The hall needs doing next and I am going to try Dulux trade durable flat matt in ‘white’ (as opposed to PBW).

Dulux Timeless is beautiful..I have it in my living room with dark teal around my fireplace.

I don't understand the MN love for Timeless. It must be the light in my house but when I tried it it pulled so yellow that I might as well have used magnolia.

Agree that timeless feels very cream when I've used it. Also agree that Dulux Ultra Matt is the bees knees of white paint - used on ceilings it's amazing.

We've used Fleetwood's Snowbound for exactly that reason. It's got grey undertones apparently. I wanted a cool almost white with no cream/beige tones and it turned out to be exactly what I wanted.

The room we used it in has dark wood floor, and sandy colour stone work so it pairs well with warm shades but I can see it would also work with cool toned rooms as well.
