What colours to accessorise with forest green?

I have just ordered myself the Joules patterdale sofa in forest green. I will need new curtains, a rug, lamp and some cushions to accessorise and im not sure what to put with it.
My floor is oak my walls are cream except the fire wall is going to be treetops green.
I thought about mustard or pastel pink but not sure if it's to much. Im trying to steer away from the all grey trend.
Only other things we have in the room is rustic side table and rustic tv cabinet, black fire and built in bookcases on either side of the fire place.

You can’t see the colours that well but here’s a photo

Gold for me

I have these Ikea curtains, to which I have added a lining and a pencil pleat heading. They are a really lovely cotton velvet. However, it looks like the sofa is velvet too? If so they would be a bit much together. Linen would be a good choice.

I would choose the Opera Botanica curtain fabric by Timorous Beasties to go with that sofa.

If you have the mustard already, why not wait til it arrives, try those with it and then decide if you like that or want something else?

I think blush or mustard would be my natural thoughts, or a pale blue.

@Notname lovely kitchen! Can I ask where you got your chairs from please?

Toilenstripes · 07/08/2020 07:29

@merryhouse

just to skew the thread

terracotta

Definitely terracotta. But since the sofa is a bold block of colour try to begin using patterns. I don’t know what your style is but Morris & Co do some beautiful patterns, as does Margo Selby.

Thank you 😊 The bar stools are Philippe Starck Kartell Masters which are sold at various places inc John Lewis. But they were quite pricey and we wanted 8 chairs for the dining table so bought a couple on ex display and then the rest are cheap eBay copies which look just the same but feel a bit flimsier. They’re fine though and were about a fifth of the price of the real ones.

Deep pink
Orange
Royal purple
Cobalt blue

Or one of the ice colours (white with a hint of colour) -pink, aqua, blue etc

Forest Green and blush pink is the newest trend i think. I've seen it a lot lately and its lovely! (I've been wanting that pallette for a few years but can't afford to redecorate. I always seem to have a colour scheme in mind then a couple of years later its "on trend". Maybe i should set up a business Grin)

I actually think most colours go with forest green. Think about plants and the colors you see in nature. Mother nature knows what she's doing!

ghislaine · 07/08/2020 07:58

For cushions I would go for an electric pink. Then for the rug I would have a pattern that uses that pink (or shades of pink) and green - imagine flamingos against the palms. A floral pattern would also work if you want something more trad or to complement your curtains. Lamps gold or brushed bronze bases with navy shades. I like lamps from pooky.com. They have lots of base styles which you can match to different shades.

MaryBerrysChutney · 07/08/2020 08:02

@Notname your kitchen is stunning!!

Sheenais · 07/08/2020 08:06

Blush pink against green is really dated already. A stronger pink would work. I think orange goes with almost everything. Or tartan if you like pattern?

HasaDigaEebowai · 07/08/2020 08:14

I have forest green curtains and blush pink cushions on my terrace. It goes really well.

I think your curtains will look good and add interest. Personally I'd be braver and have all of your walls dark green since I think the cream could dilute your scheme too much.

sandieshaw · 07/08/2020 08:18

Purple would look fab.

Ok wish I'd never seen his thread as I'm now in love with this sofa!
OP are any of the covers removable / washable?

Othering · 07/08/2020 12:40

I've got this sofa arriving next week 😁

I like this scheme.

@juneisbustingout they advise to get them professionally cleaned, so not machine washable! Im so excited.
Thanks for everyone's ideas!
@Othering i love that but fear of i painted all my walls green the room would look even smaller than it is!

@Notname random query but what are the dimensions of your room? I'm trying to figure out an extension to accommodate kitchen/dining/living!

Notname · 08/08/2020 14:05

Hi it’s 7x7.6m, it’s quite well spaced though so would be achievable in a smaller room. When extended and refurbed the house the only thing DH wanted was a dining table that converts into a pool table, so the table’s pretty big and there’s quite a bit of space around it.

tentative3 · 08/08/2020 17:20

Great, thanks for that.
