I'm painting our front reception room which has a working fireplace (log burner) and is pretty traditional. It has white shutters on the windows and white shelves wither side of the fireplace. What scheme do you like best?
1 Dark& Cosy With the built in bookshelves &Cosy 2
Or
2 A bit of Colour

We have a light and white kitchen diner in the back of the house which is more modern.

Looking to add warmth and create a 'done' room.

I would go with 1. Don't worry about trends, go which which you like best. Paint can be easily changed and the beauty of dark walls is that they can be teamed with more neutral furniture which is more expensive to replace but will still fit with future colour schemes.

We have a similar colour scheme in our living room and I have been happy with in on dark winter days and in the summer.

A bit of colour, I really don't like dark walls.
