Two sofas?

Does anyone have two sofas in their living room?

I am needing another sofa due to buying one that is a tad bit small for all of us.

If you have two sofas in your house, post pics or post the colours, if they match, etc?

I’ve never not had 2 sofas? Growing up, when I lived in my own and now!
In fact I don’t know anyone who only has 1 to be honest.

We only have 1 in the kitchen but that’s different.

Usually we have 2 the same but one slightly smaller. I can take a photo of ours tomorrow but they were not bought for this house and we’ve not decorated yet so not a great example. But we have 2 from the same range but different in that one is scatter back cushions and the other traditional but same colour.

I have two sitting rooms and both have two sofas. One has two armchairs as well. The ones in my small TV room match, the ones in the main sitting room are of similar style but don't match.

MyShinyWhiteTeeth · 26/05/2020 03:28

I would go for a corner sofa if I had a smaller room. Two sofas in a too small room look odd sometimes. My friend has a three seater and a two seater in a long thin room with large fireplace and bar. The placement blocks the doorway, fireplace and bar area and makes the long, thin room look even longer.

My parents did always have two large three seater sofas. They looked best in an L-shaped arrangement but needed a good sized room.

I only have one sofa and two armchairs.

I do need a second, but don't want it to match exactly.

Would that be odd?

Yes my sitting room is quite small. Even still, I need another sofa.

I have two sofas and an armchair in my sitting room. None of them match but they are in toning colours. One is red velvet, one is oatmeal and the chair is striped in oatmeal and red. It looks lovely.

pancakeloverrr · 26/05/2020 04:49

@Apolloanddaphne

Are they 3 seaters or 2? Also, are they hours velvet and similar in style, or completely different in style? (For example, is one fluffy and the other clan lines ? Or both fluffy? )

Matching sofas look awful unless they are intricate designs in a very large room with some non matching upholstered furniture.

Apolloanddaphne · 26/05/2020 05:06

2 seaters and both slightly different in shape and design. One is velvet and one is a rougher slub sort of fabric. If I remember when I get up I will take a photo of them and post it.

pancakeloverrr · 26/05/2020 05:30

@CovidicusRex

I'm not into matchy anything, though I do like these and colour pallet.

But to find another 2 seater sofa is quite challenging in case house looks chaotic.

Theme not these

I have two sofas, vaguely the same designs but years apart - one is recovered 3 seater in a sort of grey linen, the other two seater in blue velvet. I hate matchy matchy as well and I think as long as there is some colour awareness, ie. not completely madly wrong, then it can all hang together okay. Mine is generally in a blue / grey / green with some mustard, cream, gold in places. Well if I'm honest, I just put stuff together that I like and only edit a bit and if it pleases me then I'm happy with it.

Elephantonascooter · 26/05/2020 05:51

I've got 2. The first is the best soffa in the world, it feels like home. Didn't want to get rid but needed a second so bought a completely contrasting one.
Sofa 1 is grey fabric 3 seater with a standard back cushion arrangement.
The second is a vibrant dark blue 2 seater with scatter back cushions.
It looks really nice and lifts the room. We also have a turquoise tub chair which lives on the opposite side of the room to blue sofa. All looks lovely.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 26/05/2020 06:09

We have a large charcoal grey fabric sofa bed, and a small teal Habitat sofa in the bay window.

AdoreTheBeach · 26/05/2020 06:20

Growing up, we had a very large L shaped sofa. Most of the time, though, either myself and one of my siblings sat in the floor to watch tv (so 2 out of 3 kids).

In my own home, we have always had two sofas and a chair. Now we have a large curved sofa (actually is three pieces) and a chair.

For a family, trying to fit all on one sofa has never worked for us.

bluefoxmug · 26/05/2020 06:26

one is green fabric the other grey curdoy. one has a high back/headrest, the other low. one is memory foam, rather hard the other like sitting in a clowd..

both are small/boxy and very comfy, but in different ways.

TokyoSushi · 26/05/2020 06:27

We have 3! Two light grey fabric and one charcoal smoother fabric.

Roselilly36 · 26/05/2020 06:28

We have two large sofas in our lounge, it’s a big room, it would look empty with otherwise.

GOODCAT · 26/05/2020 06:30

We have two sofas. A two seater and a three seater. We bought them as we wouldn't have had space for two armchairs in place of the two seater. We have since moved and would have had the same space issue here.

It is what we are used to and don't think it looks odd.

twilightcanine · 26/05/2020 06:45

Two sofas. Both different colours and designs but both designs are 1950s ish. One sofa green, the other grey and the walls are a greenish grey to tie them together. Both sofas have similar coloured cushions on them.

Rockbird · 26/05/2020 06:56

Small room, two sofas. One 3 seater, one 2 seater. They're matchy matchy as they were bought at the same time and it was years ago. They need replacing and I would still get 2 but not matching.

CovidicusRex · 26/05/2020 07:16

Yes, pretty essential to have some live of loose theme and/or colour scheme going otherwise it can look really weird.

Apolloanddaphne · 26/05/2020 09:14

Here is mine. There is a very definite theme but none of the items are exactly the same.

Two sofas?
Zaphodsotherhead · 26/05/2020 09:19

I have two sofas. One is a huge four seater, covered in a huge grey throw (which is used as an extra bed if all my kids stay over, Christmas for example). It's vast and very comfortable. The other sofa is a burgundy leather two seater, left by two sets of previous occupants as nobody can get it out of the house and nobody has the heart to chop it up! It looks great and is wipe clean (dog household here).

My room is quite long and thin, so the sofas will only go in one configuration, but two sofas fill the room nicely and make it look 'homely'. Plus, you know, useful for sitting on and all.

They really don't.
