Spotlights or recessed lights in kitchen?

Just been asked by our builders to get the lights in for fit in a couple of days (we knew it was coming but lost track of time).

Should we get spotlights or recessed? Ceiling height isn’t an issue but pendants (which we had previously) don’t seem appropriate for the new kitchen. Photos attached are the sort of thing I mean not necessarily the actual ones we’d get

Thanks in advance for thoughts on v dull question. Anything else we should be bearing in mind?

I'd have recessed

Just to add we have recessed spots but 3 pendant lights over the table
