Fresh white walls, grey carpet brown sofa...what curtains and cushions to tie it together?

Been in my rented house 2 months and still can't decide what to do with the front room.

The walls are white, the carpet is light speckled grey and I've got my dark brown sofa I can't afford to change so please help me make it work. What should I do?!

I'd go for a plummy purple or raspberry curtains with similar colours in cushions. I think if everything is plain, I suggest that your curtains or cushions are patterned (but not both)

How about a muted teal, or soft rose pink?

I’d try and find something geometric and monotone or even black and white. It’ll make it look more modern than splashing in colour or adding florals

Navy would be classy

pale green, duckegg?

Grey! Try and match the carpet with the curtains and cushions, and it'll look like the sofas are an accent piece

if the sofa is yours and you will move with in the future then dress the colours more towards the sofa. Maybe go for a green (like a bright strong pistachio green, and then lighter shades of it) like in cushions, a throw and a mat. Or to be really bold go for a lime/orange or a lime/red; each combination will bring a grey and brown together. To be extra exciting get a vintage poster that is either red or orange to confirm the colour choice.

Red would work well with those colours.

Neutral curtains so they don't "pop out" and make the room feel smaller plus pink cushions on the sofa.

Blush pink and soft grey cushions, lampshades etc
