Drainage grooves in quartz worktop?

Worthwhile, or not?

My concern is that they won't drain perfectly (so what's the point) and will accumulate dirt and become discoloured (despite cleaning).

But, if not, how does washing-up drain and do we get water trickling off the worktop onto the floor?

We do have a double sink, so one idea would be to find a drainer that fits over one sink. Or a plastic drainer to go on top of the worktop (and put away between times). There is a dishwasher, so we're not doing heaps of washing-up but bits and pieces regularly.

What are people's thoughts and experiences?

We have grooves in pale Tristone (composite like Corian) and although we have a dishwasher, etc. we have a draining mat and a big two tier stainless steel drainer on there most of the time - it's just practical and we have a load of wine glasses that don't go in the dishwasher.

I have a slope and grooves. They'd never been asked to do it before apparently!

Sooonblender- I knew I couldn't be the only person to ask for it, it made sense to me!

Yep! Just like that :) Except four grooves into a half-sink.

My Corian engineers told me they hadn't ever been asked for an indent and grooves before too. Maybe it's some sort of in-joke?

@pepperjack ^^

Actually I now remember I did get told by a kitchen designer to do a couple of grooves even with a slope. As otherwise things like upside down glasses will develop a vacuum under them (because the whole edge is in contact with the slope) and will gradually vibrate down the slope into the sink. The groove leaves a slight gap so prevents this.

Exactly Minipie!
It makes sense to me but the guy looked at me like I was crazy.
The only thing I ever handwash is wine glasses!
Spoonblender- Can't believe we're the only ones to ask !

We found that this draining mat helps with the water drainage problems on our quartz worktop.
