Im planning to order a shaker kitchen from the shaker kitchen company and I've seen other threads with them in and I was wondering....

I've pretty much got the design right Im just wondering if anyone got any discount from them ? I googled all the appliances and they are approx 20% cheaper online! I just wondered if I could push them on the install and cabinets?

Thanks :-)

Advice to potential customers: think carefully before handing over 100 % before your cabinetry is even in the UK. There's absolutely no incentive for TSKC to ensure customer satisfaction 😢. Lovely kitchens though!

@standingovulation what makes you say that?

StandingOvulation · 10/05/2019 15:34

Anything slightly negative is removed from their social media so for a feel of what many people are saying - read the Google reviews and Trustpilot.

I'd also recommend reading the Houzz reviews, but they don't seem to exist any more 🤔

StandingOvulation · 10/05/2019 15:37

Sorry didn't @margokj you.

margokj · 10/05/2019 15:41

The reviews are very mixed. I've personally had brilliant pre-sales service and love the product. Having just paid a 50% deposit I'm now nervous! Have you had a personal experience?

margokj · 10/05/2019 15:48

sorry forgot to tag you back! @standingovulation

StandingOvulation · 10/05/2019 17:50

@margokj yes I have experience which very much echoes the negative reviews.

However the kitchen is pretty wonderful
it's the customer experience post deposit that is appalling.

I advise you to pay the balance by credit card to give yourself a stronger consumer protection.

As I'm currently in negotiations with TSKC, that's about all I can say
Smile

@standingovulation - sorry to hear that. I have actually used credit card for that reason. I have no reason to believe so far that my experience will be bad but good to know what to look out for. Glad you're happy with the finished product though - hopefully in time this will outweigh the pain of the experience! Any other tips on how to avoid pitfalls post deposit would be much appreciated :-)

Avoid this company at all costs!! I paid £20k for a new kitchen from the Shaker Kitchen Company. The designers in the showroom were very good, however, the moment you put down your deposit the experience completely changes and you are handed over to 'Customer Services' which is run by the surly and defensive daughter of the owner. The kitchen that had been installed does not remotely match the plan we signed off due to 'mistakes adding up the dimensions'. We were forced to buy more cabinets last minute to try to fix the problem (at our cost!) and the kitchen is still not finished 6 MONTHS after the confirmed completion date. After hundreds of calls and emails and dealing with 6 different people, I still can't track down anyone who is remotely interested in putting this right. The excuse given is that the company has been growing too fast to be run properly. Staff on all levels are happy to criticise the business and management, and literally no-one is interested in sorting out the issues. There is a really big reason why they ask for 100% of the cost to be paid UP FRONT. AVOID!!!!

Have to say when we were shopping for a new kitchen we went to their head office showroom in Cirencester. Could not believe the naff quality of cabinets in the showroom. At the time they were opening another showroom and it just felt like they’d taken their eye off the ball in Cirencester. And if the showroom kitchen looks cheap and worn/scuffed why would you buy one.

StandingOvulation · 14/06/2019 21:34

The negative reviews seem to be pouring in thick and fast. All seem very aligned with my experience.

Believe the reviews folks.

@SW6mama I sympathise with you immensely Sad

Nester1988 · 04/12/2019 11:28

Please avoid! I have literally hundreds of emails I can send to anyone who wants to see what dealing with this company is like. I am at my wits end and months down the line I still dont have a working kitchen. It honestly breaks my heart. I have never dealt with a company like this. Nothing has gone right and they don't respond or answer their phones.

I wouldn't wish the experience I have been through on anyone.

Ratherberightthanhappy · 04/12/2019 12:36

I have literally just gone post the finishing line sorting out the entire mess. It took me ONE YEAR to find solutions for the various nightmares they left me with. I have sent over 1000 emails, and I think if I added up the time spent it would be months as I had to sue them in the end. They are in the process of changing their company name to SHAKER WORKSHOP company. It's still the same people tho, you have been warned....

Nester1988 · 04/12/2019 13:19

@Ratherberightthanhappy how did getting lawyers involved go? I am considering it as they promised compensation and are now refusing to honour it under the new trading name.

I have started a thread to raise awareness of this rebrand:

I’d like to recommend Mobalpa for kitchens. I hadn’t heard of them before I passed a showroom and assumed they were too posh for us. Got a fantastic range and very good customer service and fitting. I was pleased with a £10k all in cost.

Notthebloodygym · 14/01/2020 18:43

The best shaker kitchen we ever got was one a local carpenter made for us and which he got a friend of his who was a decorator to paint.
