I thought I would start a thread on kitchen work surfaces, as I had quite a bit of trouble when deciding on a work surface for my new kitchen. The more I researched the more problems were thrown up regarding staining, cracking and chipping of quartz, marble, granite etc.... If anyone else out there is looking for a worksurface choice, read this article, it explains all the pros and cons of each surface along with approx prices for each. thewhitekitchencompany.com/blogs/twkcblog/choosing-a-kitchen-work-surface

Thanks. We went with granite, and I've got no regrets. It looks as good as the day it was installed 2.5 years ago, with no wear or damage anywhere (and I'm. It precious with it - hot oven dishes etc go straight on it, don't always wipe spills up immediately etc).

Whatever you get, don't get a MDF Kitchen top. They are cheap but not good for health.

We have white quartz because I know it doesn’t stain.

A wipe over with baby bottle sterilising solution and it looks like new
