Hey,

Im thinking you guys might share your experience. My heart says soft warm carpet but my head says easy clean hard floor with a rug..

Your thoughts would be greatfully received :) xxx

I’d go with carpet; 7 year olds can make a lot of noise on a wooden floor.

Kr1stina · 11/10/2018 21:43

Wood every time

PippilottaLongstocking · 11/10/2018 21:45

Wood w/ lovely big fluffy (preferably machine washable) rug

I'd go carpet every time for bedrooms, much warmer and cosier, less draughty and much less noisy.

We had kardean and loved it but it can make a lot of noise. We’ve moved and will probably carpet a lot as they’re quite noisy.

Carpet for bedrooms, especially with kids.

Honestly it's like a herd of elephants.

IHeartKingThistle · 11/10/2018 22:13

My DD is 11 and her 2 year old carpet is trashed. It was all accidental but there is paint and nail varnish and other stuff I just can't get out on there and it never looks tidy even when it's just been hoovered. I'm going to put laminate and a cheap rug up there first chance I get.

useruseruser · 12/10/2018 07:56

I would say carpet but like KingThistle says, the chances are it's going to get wrecked.

Wood and a large, thick rug - much easier to replace Grin

Carpet. But not expensive carpet, or anything high maintenance like black or white.

DunesOfSand · 12/10/2018 09:46

Carpet.
We have tiles (bungalow, tiled throughout), and i HATE it. Cant wait to have something more forgiving underfoot.

Voice of experience here (although we're semi detached so may not be an issue)...as neighbour to a house where kids rooms and upstairs hall is laminated please please go for carpet! We literally hear everything. All day.And all night!
Also I don't get why some people assume kids will always trash a carpet? Granted some accidental marks will happen but it certainly doesn't have to get trashed. Plus it'll be warmer in winter Smile

Carpet! Lovely and cosy underfoot, especially in winter. And definitely better on the noise front.

RiverTam · 12/10/2018 21:51

Carpet. It acts as soundproofing along with being warmer and cosier.
