What kind of furniture goes with a chesterfield sofa?

I bought two new sofas and they are being delivered next Friday, I'd quite like to get the room painted score they get here but I'm having trouble thinking of colours.

The sofa is brown ( or antique whisky ) and is chesterfield style. My house is old, it was built in the 1920s, and I like vintage fairly traditional things with the odd bit of quirkiness I have a large antique wooden rocking horse that will go in the bay window but apart from that I'm starting from scratch.

I have attached a pic of the sofa and pics of the room, any suggestions for colours and styling the room would be helpful

Also the windows both have shutters on now!

Room and sofa look lovely. Maybe look at indigo furniture for inspiration, looks like your room would suit that style.

I like deep colours but I'm worried it will look too gentlemen's club!

I have a tester of Hague blue and oval room blue and The Hague is gorgeous but I think would be too dark in a room this big. I will find somewhere for it though

So I am thinking strong colour, brass chandelier and accents?

I think darker strong colours work much better with dark brown furniture. I made the mistake of decorating our hallway with a light colour. We have dark antique furniture and it just looks wrong against the wall now. Sigh. DH is not impressed as I want to repaint. (lots of tricky Victorian cornicing to paint around!). I’m looking at Charleston grey f&b as possibility.

I use Instagram a lot for decor ides. I've just done a quick check for #chesterfieldsofas. There are thousands of pictures... Many gorgeous images of chesterfield sofas in situ in real peoples homes. You will see loads of colour schemes / decor ideas that look amazing and will immediately catch your eye - as well as those where you may think "definitely not that colour scheme"!
