Hello Mumsnetters,

I need a favour please. Does anyone have experience with Oak furniture land. We are looking to buy their cranbrook range of furniture. Looking at the pictures online, they look good but I’m keen to know whether they are durable and long lasting.

Any info on prior experience will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

A0001 · 23/08/2018 23:03

had them

ZizzyK · 24/08/2018 14:16

@A001- thanks so much for your response. We will be buying a couple of the cranbrook range so i thought to get feedback from MN.

They definitely look of good quality online.

You need to go to a showroom and see it in the flesh really. I'm sure it's good quality and we don't have any, but when I went for a nosey one afternoon, I came a way with a slight feeling of being a fraction underwhelmed.

Kismett · 24/08/2018 16:01

In our experience the furniture was poor quality, part of our order was incorrect, and none of it was delivered on time.

ZizzyK · 24/08/2018 16:11

@popocatepetals, thanks. I will be going to their showroom over this bank holiday weekend. They do look good online but you’re right I should see them in flesh.

We were impressed when we went to our local store - We have a large 6ft dining table with 6 chairs. They originally delivered 2 incorrect chairs but customer services were great and it was rectified quickly. We've had it 3 months now and very happy with the quality! And lasting well so far.

I also have a large mirror above the fireplace which I've had for over a year still in perfect condition but this doesn't get touched or knocked anyway. Have a look in store and see what you think, but I love it.

honeysucklejasmine · 24/08/2018 16:19

We have a dining table and chairs (4 years old), a coffee table and a sideboard (both one year old).

Very happy!

Mumtothelittlefella · 24/08/2018 16:22

We have lots from the Mango wood range - dining table, chairs, shelves, sideboard, coffee tables, large mirror. We’ve got two little ones and have been a little flaky on treating the wood but six years down the line, along with four house moves, they look great and the quality is brilliant. We’ve changed some pieces now and have passed those on to my Dbro who recently moved house. Looks great at their place too. Definitely recommend them.

I love oak furniture land but go to oak furniture land clearance shop if you have one near you. I've picked up some right bargains.

Smallhorse · 24/08/2018 16:26

Go and see it in a showroom but DO NOT ORDER IN THE SHOWROOM. order it online then you can reject it if you don't like it in your home

AnnoyedByAlfieBear · 24/08/2018 16:47

We've had our furniture for 5 1/2 years now and it's great quality. There was some damage in delivery but they sent a carpenter and fixed it really quickly.

moreismore · 24/08/2018 16:49

We have an original rustic bed which is 4 yrs old and been through a house move and it’s totally solid. Excellent quality.
eBay is worth checking if you don’t mind second hand as there’s lots on there .

YeTalkShiteHen · 24/08/2018 16:52

We have a Galway display cabinet, coffee table and sideboard. Had them less than a year but they’ve taken a battering, and are still in perfect condition.

ZizzyK · 24/08/2018 17:16

Many thanks everyone for the great tips and info. Looking online for the closest oak clearance store to me. Thanks again👍🏽

The actual furniture is fab but the customer service is awful. Took 4 deliveries to get anywhere close to right and eventually we gave up and accepted a slightly blemished mirror as we couldn't afford any more days waiting in for delivery. Do make the delivery guys wait until you've opened the packaging and checked it, even though they say you don't have to. That delivery note you sign says you've checked it and are happy with it...

ihatetosay · 26/08/2018 18:49

much better to get individual pieces from ebay or vintage shop from 1950'60's when furniture was well made then the identikit stuff coming out of that place

nuttyknitter · 26/08/2018 18:55

Not sure what range we have, but got a dining table & chairs, book case, dresser and coffee table three years ago and love them. Ordered in the showroom and customer service was excellent.

Bubblysqueak · 26/08/2018 18:55

Great customer service, really good products and the delivery guys were fantastic (especially as each package they delivered were ridiculously heavy)

thethoughtfox · 26/08/2018 20:05

Got a dining table and chairs: beautiful, solid, quality, heavy. Everything you want from a kitchen table. There was some promotion on and we got a beautiful full length chunky framed mirror for free.

Disfordarkchocolate · 26/08/2018 20:13

We had 4 bits and now have 3, one item was faulty twice and the customer services was rubbish. It's ok but I would not buy again. The drawers don't run smoothly and the storage on the tv cabinet doesn't really fit dvds in.

Disfordarkchocolate · 26/08/2018 20:13

And waxing is a pain!!!

woodfires · 26/08/2018 20:53

We have a couple of book cases, they are solid and have coped well with a house move. The delivery service was awful, they wanted to just leave it at the front door at first.

ISeeTheLight · 26/08/2018 20:57

Friends have lots from the Mango rang which seems decent. We refuse to buy anything there though due to their sales tactics, I hate a hard sell and quite like to browse by myself. They hound you around the shop every time you go in. Awful

Sundance2741 · 26/08/2018 21:04

We have some side tables, 2 cupboards and 2 bed frames plus mattresses from them. Really good quality. No problems with service - 4 separate purchases.

Hate the constant sale nonsense but just ignore that and take sale price as THE price.

Warning - go to showroom. We liked the look of a chest of drawers online but didn't like it when we saw it in the flesh so to speak.
