Summer sunlight and blinds

I need darkness to sleep. This is what I'm dealing with until 9.30 every night and again at about 3.30 in the morning. The light wakes me up and I'm desperate for more sleep. Eye masks no good. I ve tried one of those portable blackout blinds which sticks on to the window with suckers but I have the window open always at night so light gets through anyway. Posting here in case I've missed some miracle way of having air in the bedroom but complete darkness ...
Any suggestions?

Curtains?!

Get a blackout (Roman) blind which goes outside the recess. Or curtains as @jillho83 suggested.

I have the same problem...am very light sensitive ...I have been looking at the BlocOut roller blinds by Blocblinds.

At present I have wooden Venetian blinds in window recess and blackout curtains outside recess...but it's no use.

I really miss the external blinds on my apartment when I lived in Spain...slept really well there.

OMG - I've got a similar one to that but cause I have the sash window open it lets in light.

Curtains might be the way to go but I guess even then they'd restrict the flow of air and I need a cool room to sleep. Seems a choice between airflow or darkness 😏

Eye masks are the only things that really block out the light for me. I tried a few before I got some that worked properly. Shame they won't work for you.

Tin foil on the window pane. Damp down the glass then apply the foil. It’s not pretty but it works a treat.

Buy curtains and have a fan in the room to circulate air and keep you cool

EgremontRusset · 25/06/2018 11:36

An eye mask, so you can keep the windows open

Tin foil....
