Moving from a Victorian house to a 70s soulless box! - lost on how to decorate it

We’re moving from a character Victorian house to a 1970s box (it’s a head move rather than heart!) I’m lost on what kind of style to look into when it comes to decor.

I’m thinking our current furniture is going to look weird Confused Can anyone point me in the direction of any websites/blogs or just advise what kind of style furniture / decor suits this kind of house? 🙌🏻 Thank you!

I love my 1960’s box, all the rooms are bright due to large windows and it’s easy to place furniture as there are no alcoves or funny shaped rooms, ceilings are low too so easy to change lightbulbs! I like clean straight lines but I think as long as you don’t go too chintzy you can get away with most styles.

I think 70’s houses are spacious. Love the use of clear lines and no annoying little quirks. What about mid-century furniture and a Danish vibe?

I live in a 17th century house and although we live it, I would also love the ease of living in the sort of house you now live in.

...we love it

Thank you!! Just looked at Mid century modern styles and decor online and this has made me MUCH more excited about the move!

Have a look at Erica Davies' blog, The Edited. She bought a characterless beige modern house and made it look fantastic. Lots of colour.

I painted my living room the same colour as hers after seeing how she'd styled it (my house is 30s, but still bland and soulless).

How about Scandinavian style? If you watch any Scandi TV series the houses often have a 70s look about them and are furnished in a simple but stylish way.
