What carpet to go in this room ( photos inc)

We are soon to start decorating a house from top to bottom before moving and I've been searching for carpet ideas to go in this room.
The original designer ( the style we are going for) has gone for grey but I'm worried about it being the wrong shade and also if it might look all a bit to much

We don't want a laminate floor and I'm more than happy to have rugs over carpet but I'm getting brain fog over what

Any suggestions very gratefully received

How about a striped carpet? We have one in the stairs that stops it being too blocky, would introduce some colour too

I think the grey works with a cream rug to break it up. A beige colour might work too, but I’d worry about it getting dirty and shaded with the wear.

You could go for a plaid carpet too, like this.

I've had stripes on stairs before and not to keen in living rooms, I hadn't thought of a beige colour but that is a possibility we have a medium beige colour in the current house and it's worn well as we are a slippers on family Blush

Why don't you want wooden floors? You could have a huge rug over it.

You can usually order free samples of carpet because ime they always look completely different at home.

I have a disability that means I have balance issues and fall quite often so carpet makes for a softer landing should I hit my head, and rugs are okay as long as not where I might trip.

They look lovely but not always practical

If go for a light stone carpet, I think the dark grey walls and carpet is too much and will be too dark. Some is quite good at not showing dirty and marks.

Oh my gosh I should read before I post!
I'd not if, stone not some.
