Hello, my rug is stuck under my super heavy dining room table and I can’t get it out. Any ideas how I do this? I know I’ve been stupid but I nievley thought I’d never change the rug at time of rug and table installation! Now I hate the rug Shock

Thanks oldraven. Yes that’s exactly right; it’s a column with heavy slab sitting on top. Can’t walk it as slab sits on top and Iran fixed on.

Grin tiredmummo it would put those rolling eyes to good use.

SandLand · 03/02/2018 13:52

Can you take the top off completely? And then lift the column?

Are you planning on getting a new rug? How are you going to get that in place?

GlitterCity · 03/02/2018 14:19

No idea Confused I’m thinking no rug will be best after this hassle! too heavy to take top off. I’m thinking cutting rug will be my best option Sad

I'd like a picture 😁

Can you put tall chairs all around the edge of the table and then lift the table top onto the top of the chair backs - obviously depends on how sturdy the chairs are etc
Then slide the base out??

MeYouYouMe · 03/02/2018 14:21

Oops cross post - scrap my idea

WhatCanIDoNowPlease · 03/02/2018 14:34

The table top isn't fixed to the column/leg?

GlitterCity · 03/02/2018 14:47

No it sits on fixture it’s ton weight. MeYou not unless you used steel chairs!

Wow OP, that is gorgeous, wish I had some clever ideas for you, I have no idea though, sorry. It looks really heavy.

Almostthere15 · 03/02/2018 15:17

Don't cut the rug. You'll never get it close enough and if you do you'll unbalance it and it'll wobble all the time.

I think you could pass furniture straps under the table and then slide it along the rug to the point that you can get the rug out. The problem will then be that the table won't necessarily be in the right place and then it'll be hard to get back and you'd risk scratching the floor. Though easier with furniture straps. You probably need a couple more people to help with that though.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 03/02/2018 15:21

Can you and your dh lift the top off, and put it against the wall, then gradually ‘walk’ the base off the rug?

GlitterCity · 03/02/2018 20:52

Thanks everyone, I think lifting it may be our only option with some bribed helping muscle Confused I think l refrain from using any more rugs under it from now on!

I wonder if you could ram/wiggle strips or a strip of stiff plastic sheeting under the base and then slowly slide it off the carpet.

You can also buy sliding pads for heavy furniture from amazon [[https://www.amazon.co.uk/Reusable-Furniture-Movers-Carpeted-Surfaces/dp/B001W6Q4VA EG THESE). You could possible squeeze one under each corner.
