Pulled up carpet yesterday... beautiful parquet flooring! Dilemma re children’s bedrooms.

Yesterday the builders pulled up the carpet and revealed some truly beautiful parquet flooring underneath, in fantastic condition. I was practically dancing with joy!

However now I’m thinking sensibly. I’m definitely going to keep in the hallway but what about the children’s bedrooms.

Would you carpet in children bedroom (5 and 8) or would you leave the parquet flooring?

Also, any suggestions whether the floor can be “protected”?

I’d carpet for now. Keep the parquet flooring obviously so it’s possible to uncover at some stage.

I'd leave it if you like it. But then we pulled up all our upstairs carpets and switched them for LVT, so I'm a fan of hard floors.

Take them to choose a large rug each for their rooms. It will give the floor some protection, a personal touch for the children, and it will protect against the shock of waking up in winter and putting bare feet down onto a cold hard floor!

I’d put down carpet, warmer, more play space and safer for the parquet. Then when your children are either older or left home, I’d reveal and renovate the parquet to reboot my home with a new look.
