After all the sofa threads I’ve not seen anyone comment about buying from DFS

We have seen one we like from there but what’s people’s experiences?

Really pleased with our dfs sofa. Bought it back in October after looking round everywhere for the right sofa, finally found it in dfs and it was fairly reasonable price and half the delivery time of most other places!

We've bought a couple from them. Good quality and good customer service.

We've bought a couple from there too. Been really pleased with them. Good customer service, good quality of sofa - still look good after a few years - I'd go back.
They also do interest-free payment options.

Yep we had one from them 18 months ago. no complaints. DFS and Sofa workshop are the same company by the way, just different branding.

I’ve just bought one yesterday. Looks great, can’t wait to eat it. I’ve been impressed with the service so far. Visited the store twice before settling on what to get.

Was not impressed with the constant hassling of staff in SCS though, I refuse to buy from there on that basis.

I had one from DFS in May. It's shit. I've had them out to restitch the arms once already and they've ripped again and they won't repair it again so I reckon I'll be lucky to get a year out of it.

I've had one good experience, on a sofa bought (eek!) 18 years ago. I later had it recovered, and the upholsterer was stunned it was a DFS one, he said it was really excellent quality construction.

So, I was happy to go there when time came to replace it, 5 years ago - and it was a disaster from start to finish. First, there was a lot of trouble getting it delivered, because the store manager lied to us about it being possible to disassemble.

Then, despite it being a very expensive sofa, it only lasted 4 years before all the seats and back padding sagged to the point of being very uncomfortable. It couldn't be repaired economically, because it had fixed, leather cushions, so we got rid of it - but after all the issues getting it into the house, we decided to just cut it up in the living room and take it out in bits. It was then that we discovered our £2000 sofa was constructed partly of cardboard. Never again.

ALemonyPea
What is it made of?

Anyway, we are on hunt looking for a new sofa or two and we liked some in DFS. Which one did you go for and why?

GummyGoddess · 25/01/2018 19:17

We bought ours in 2016 from DFS. It was delivered on time and is comfortable. The only niggle I have is that one part of the sofa is now kind of sagging but I don't know if it's just because DH always sits there and literally sits on the bottom part of the back cushion which pulls it down as well as slouching right at the edge of the seat cushion which crushes it, or if it's just stupidly made.

That said the covers are all removable so I could always restuff that bit when DH has finished destroying it.

Love ours interest free credit - brilliant don't be conned into the extra care thing though !

snozzlemaid · 25/01/2018 19:22

Bought ours 3 and a half years ago from DFS and can't fault it.
It's still just like new, in great condition.
Would definitely buy from there again.

SadieHH · 25/01/2018 19:22

We’re on our second. First lasted 10 years till DD1 was born and started using it as a trampoline and wrecked it. This one is now 8 years old and is fine but I’m getting bored with it. If I was in a position to afford a new one I’d have no problem going back to DFS.

DeleteOrDecay · 25/01/2018 19:24

We had one a few years ago and it was shit, the ones we have now from Harvey's are much better. I suppose it depends on the kind of sofa you buy.

exWifebeginsat40 · 25/01/2018 19:29

bought 2 in the last 2 years and just ordered a third. we've not had a single problem with delivery, quality or customer service. they do fleece you on delivery costs but then their prices are ridiculously reasonable.

and, you can order online and nobody shouts at you about scotchguard.

EssentialHummus · 25/01/2018 19:34

brilliant don't be conned into the extra care thing though !

We went for this for our new sofa last Nov., and they've already been out twice to remove DD's bodily fluids Grin Envy.

Great sofa, price was fine, delivery was fine, 0% credit thingy was good. No complaints at all.

ASqueakingInTheShrubbery · 26/01/2018 08:22

Ours is fine, still looks good and is comfy after 4 years. I think we bought in on the only weekend of the whole year that there wasn't a sale on.
