How to make my pale blue living room look cosy and warm for winter?
Monr0e · 24/10/2017 18:09
My living room is a very pale blue with lid grey sofas and cream carpets and curtains. I love autumn / winter and cosying up in the evenings but have no idea how to make the room "warmer".
Non of the traditional colours, reds, russets etc would go and I'm rubbish at this kind of thing so turning to the wise mumsnetters for tips

Go for texture, cream textured cushions, sheepskin rugs, fur throws.
Some green shades might be good.

Cream or a darker blue or grey? Snuggly throws and lots of candles. Gold or copper accents might work to add some warmth?

As JT05 has said - focus on texture and also lighting. Cable knit throws and cushions, faux fur throws, sheepskin rugs or footstool. 'Giant' knit throws and cushions are popular just now and are very plush and cosy.
Make sure you have side lamps and use a 'warm white' reasonably low watt bulb. Ideally have lampshades that are dark cream or even tobacco colored inside (casts a lovely light)
Use candles or led battery candles and warm scents like orange and cinnamon.

Orange is the contrasting colour so anything in that spectrum would compliment the light blue, I used it when decorated my parents place.

Watching with interest as mine is similar. So far I have cream and brown sheepskins over some chairs and am thinking about experimenting with warm wood tones and maybe some blue and grey tartans.

I got a couple of these susie Watson wool throws, I’d say a couple of throws, one over the arm of each sofa, nice big cushions, low lighting, table lamps or floor lamps, and you’re pretty much there.

Natural wood and copper or rose gold accessories will warm up a pale blue. We have a light greeny grey with grey and cream walls, and I have used different tones of gold, brass, copper accessories and we have wooden furniture. It feels very cosy at night but fresh in the day.

Fab ideas, thank you
I'm loving the copper, gold suggestions with some chunky oatmeal throws and fleeces and lots of warm lighting.
Now if someone could just come and put it all together for me that would be great, thanks
