Is there any way to 'style out' these fitted wardrobes? Pic included

Just that really. Have these really awful fitted wardrobes across one whole wall. The cupboards themselves are useful and we can't afford to replace the doors.

I assume they are melamine(?) and have a marble effect with a sort of grey/lilac hue 😳.

I suppose the answer is to try and paint them but we're not very handy.

I would really like ideas on colours/styles for the room that make them liveable with?

Got to be worth trying to paint them first.

Could you get them vinyl wrapped?

You can buy multi surface paint. I did my kitchen cupboards with Painter's Touch. Get the spray, take the doors off and spray them in the garden/garage.

Then buy some cool handles. Saw some nice morrocan style ones on ebay.

Funnily enough, all these marble fronts are coming back in. And that's not a joke. I'm not sure that this sort of surface will lend itself to painting so vinyl might be more likely to work. It'll be a lot of faff and some cost anyway.

Ireally, I'd be trying to change the fronts. Have you got a budget in mind?

Don't really have any decent budget. We are getting the room repainted and smartened up a bit but the wardrobes are always there like a bad DIY job from the 60's!

If they're coming back in though maybe I should hold fire!

I was just asking about the budget as we had some wardrobes fitted in the last two years. It was a 4m run with a fab kit inside (lights, glass fronted drawers etc). We got those from Ikea for 1k. A carpenter then built around them to make them look fitted. They look very smart now. I'd be tempted to change them rather than try to beautify unless the budget definitely doesn't stretch.

Those are a blank canvas! You could wallpaper the doors or you could add moulding and then paint them. New handles will make a big difference too.

Painting melamine is very doable. Give the doors a good scrub with sugar soap and then use a good primer - I always use zinsser BIN which is shellac based and can be used on almost any surface. You can use any top coat you like; I used good quality, washable Matt emulsion on my kitchen doors. It has held up really well, lasted 5 years and counting.

Do a Pinterest search for wardrobe door makeovers, you should find all the inspiration you need!

I'd paint them a mid grey with Annie Sloan as it's in your bedroom and doesn't have to look perfect.Look on eBay for some wooden handles or Morroccan ones if you like.Paint your bedroom white to keep cost low and pop up a nice copper mirror.Annie Sloan will stick to anything.£20 a tub and the wax (needed) is an extra £18 but you don't need to sand or prime it.Google tutorials before toy use it and water it down as you paint.Don't be tempted by other chalk paints-none are as good.As a novice DIYER this is probably your best option.

I don't like Annie Sloan paint at all. Personally I think chalk paint is overhyped- I've been painting furniture for years using either Matt emulsion or eggshell.

When I have used chalk paint I have found Autentico chalk paint much, much better than Annie Sloan.

I find Autentico too runny but that's just my preference.I'm with you on using eggshell but I think op wants a quick easy fix?Then again I've never used spray paint...maybe that is just as fuss free?
