Help me decide front door colour

Finally getting rid of our awful white double glazed front door and getting bespoke solid wood one ( similar to one in photo)
We live in a 200 yr Old whitewashed cottage in Wales and the window frames are black with slate windowsills and black guttering/drainpipes
I'd rather not have a black front door and don't think an oak door would fit in with the style...thinking about a grey/ grey blue?..(looking at Farrow and Ball for inspiration)
Can anyone advise please......do I go dark or can I get away with a lighter colour ( like photo)

A lovely bright yellow. Yellow doors are cheerful and I love them!!

Neela my front door is the same colour and we have the same panel next to it!

OP I would go for that Stiffkey (?) blue.

Farrow and ball lichen, classy and timeless

We also have yellow brick walls, black / grey slate and a 200 year old cottage. I tried loads of different colours, mainly blues. We're going for F & B oval room blue. It didn't immediately leap out as an obvious colour on the chart, but was a clear winner in combination with the other materials. It had a subtler, more sophisticated look than some of the brighter blues which I'd initially preferred on the chart.

OP I love your choice and would stick with it. I played safe and went with this for our front door.

Our cottage looks similar to yours, and we have black. I like lighter coloured doors like French Gray, but I think lighter colours look better with bare/red brick. You need a darker colour against lighter rendering.

I love the look of that door, could you possibly post a link to the supplier/manufacturer?

Or PM me, pretty please. I use the app, so would be glad to know about any PMs on this thread.

is farrow and ball paint on a front door 'tough' enough to cope with being wiped down, weather , etc. ?

MrsEricBana · 09/08/2017 11:44

Yes their exterior gloss or exterior eggshell should be.

Eve · 09/08/2017 11:47

... ah thank you - didn't know F&B did exterior versions.

(My neighbour's husband has been known to call me Farrow & Bore)
