Hi, has anyone bought carpet from Carpetright before? The prices seem good as they seem to often have sales on - but are the carpets good quality and do the fitters do a good job?

Alternatively can anyone please recommend a good reasonably priced independent shop in East Surrey kind of area?
Thanks.

We have used them several times with no issues, but most on here seem to hate them!

We've used them for a few carpets now and they have been good. However they subcontract the fitting so it may depend on your local fitter as to how well they are fitted.

Thanks for the helpful honest replies Smile

Had them for both carpet and lino and they were excellent. Great fitters (sub contracted) and everything has worn well.

Used them recently with no problems and interest free credit is handy. We got our own underlay though as theirs is expensive and poor quality.

Used them last year. Carpet quality seems ok so far but had a terrible experience with the fitters - they left handprints, smears and scratches on new walls and skirting boards.

Didn't vacuum when finished and left the scrap for us to dispose of, but helped themselves to the offcuts of carpet gripper that we had bought separately. Oh and left blades on the floor too.

Their underlay and accessories were also extortionate for very poor quality. We bought those online elsewhere.

Really pleased with our carpets. As mentioned above fitters are sub contractors. Our bedroom fitter was fab our living room was terrible. Came in like bulls in a China shop, damaged stuff including our week old fire place. Ended up claiming on their insurance.

Worst service ever. Avoid!

wowfudge · 23/07/2017 08:10

Ime nearly all carpet and flooring fitters are self-employed sub contractors. Only once have we paid the flooring company direct for fitting.

Thanks, sorry you've had such bad experiences. I think I'll go to a local carpet shop and use their fitters.

Because of the cost of waste disposal, it's quite normal for the offcuts, etc to be bagged for the householder to dispose and to have to vacuum the carpet yourself afterwards. We always buy our own underlay online as most carpet retailers make a huge mark up on it. You can also buy door bars and gripper rods yourselves.

Fairylea · 25/07/2017 07:29

We've always used them (across 3 different houses, different areas) and never had any issues.

Used them loads for various house renovations. Most carpets are much of a muchness whoever supplies them. Carpet right do offer higher end products as well as your £5.99 on a roll stuff. I agree that the problem is generally the sub con Fitters who definitely can be hit and miss....
