What colour would you paint this kitchen?

It started out magnolia, and I painted it all white, but now I'm starting to think it's a bit boring and cold. I want to make it a bit cosier (I think?). There's a large bare wall to the left which I've not pictured because it's covered in photos.

Yep. Tiling is really easy. We just retiled and repainted our kitchen. Took a couple of cupboards down and replaced with open shelves and it's made a massive difference for not a lot of money.

A soft warm beige like a mushroom colour or a warm toned honey brown

I think you can always tell DIY tiling. It's one of those jobs people think is easy but it can look shit if not done properly.

I don't think your tiles are that bad Confused; possibly a bit 'noughties' but not dreadful. Grey would be completely wrong, far too cold. I would pick out one of the colours of the tiles and go for that.

You can indeed do DIY tiling, especially if you use the small tiles that come in sheets. I have found that the easiest to lay are the sheets of square mosaic tiles.

If you are a person who takes measuring and precision seriously, then you could do it. Look at a good few Youtube tutorials and ask at your home improvement store for advice on good products and techniques. You can often bring home a few sheets in different finishes and colours to see which one suits your space best.

The most difficult part in my experience anyway is taking the old tiles off and evening off the surface under them.

Give yourself time - you have a lot of square footage of tiles. Buy a spirit level. Practice cutting tiles evenly (though with the mosaic style you can get away without cutting tiles, just the web backing, I have found). Factor in a few extra sheets and maybe a sheet of plywood just for practice.

I'm currently working on a very similar kitchen. Same units, tiles but with wooden worktops. I have painted the window wall dark grey and the opposite wall mid grey, (grey is neutral). Other walls are painted in white linen, which is warmer and not so stark as white. The main difference is the floor. I think a darker floor would complement the kitchen better.
