Help me find this paint colour

I'm currently planning to re-paint my hall, stairs and landing. I'm going to attempt it myself - eek - and if it looks rubbish to get professionals in. I was initially thinking Timeless, which I've done in 2 of the 3 bedrooms coming off it, but I'm now thinking I need something with a little bit... 'more' to it for such a big area - it's 2 floors with a curved victorian dark wood balustrade with white spindles going up it.

I was looking at some property porn and like the paint colour in pictures 7 and 8 here - any ideas? I think it might be described as greige? I want a very soft colour, a hint not a strong effect, with hints of grey and stone but not cream nor a true grey or lilac-toned grey. I quite like this too

As it's likely to get scraped by bags/coats going up stairs it needs to be fairly wipeable.

Thinking of doing a black frame gallery wall and copper light fitting if that's not completely naff and overly trendy as well!

Fresh linen is a homebase paint which looks like this. Just walnut from dulux is also very similar. In fact almost identical.

TheFutureMrsB · 14/01/2017 13:13

Crown Spotlight is very similar. I have it in my bedroom.

Used google for an image, too lazy to go upstairs 😂

Bubble2bubble · 14/01/2017 13:19

Your second link could be Farrow & Ball Elephant's breath

legolammb · 14/01/2017 13:21

Thanks for the quick suggestions, both look good! TheFutureMrsB - does Spotlight come up pink/lilac at all? It looks slightly like it might in the pics. It's an internal hall with no windows so that may make a difference.

Thanks Bubble - think F&B is out of budget for me trying to do it myself. I've also heard mixed reviews about how durable it is so I'm a bit hesitant for a stairway but will google for some dupes

Could you not print a picture of it and take it to homebase where they colour match paint and make it?

Bubble2bubble · 14/01/2017 14:21

Tbh we didn't use F & B paint but our decorator got the colour copied very cheaply for us Wink

TheFutureMrsB · 14/01/2017 14:51

No Lego not that I've noticed, my bedroom doesn't get much light at all, I'll try and get a photo when I'm back home.

RenovatingHouseWithKids · 14/01/2017 14:52

In the comments section of the instagram pic the user has hash tagged farrow and ball's ammonite. I've tried colour matching and it doesn't seem to work, at least not to a picky eye! Best to find one from a brand you like rather than colour matching from another imo. I've heard great things about silicon chalky downs. Good luck!

Bungleboggs · 14/01/2017 14:58

Dulux Egypition cotton is quite greysh

Alwayscheerful · 15/01/2017 21:05

I would say ammonite and elephants breath - Johnstones will colour match for you at half the price and the paint is more hardwearing. I use farrow and ball because I like the chalky finish on walls but my carpenter prefers the johnstones acrylic for paintwork.
Elephants breath looks great in north facing rooms, it has lilac undertones ( I think it is red based). If your rooms are smaller than the house you linked to you might get the sand effect with skimming stone.

Alwayscheerful · 15/01/2017 21:06

Sorry - same not sand effect.

nannyj · 15/01/2017 21:15

I've got Dulux Egyptian cotton and it's very similar.

Lesley1980 · 16/01/2017 12:02

I think it looks similar to Dulux Just Walnut too. We have it in the kitchen to go with oak cabinets. I really like it.

Someone mentioned Crown Spotlight & we have that in the hall. It is a lovely colour but it's lilac based & in our house it's grey in the morning & lilac in the afternoon.

Terrible lighting in my house.

I was going to say Dulux Egyptian Cotton too. One of my favourite colours.

ChishandFips33 · 17/01/2017 00:23

Dulux polished pebble has been recommended on other threads

I was going to suggest Just Walnut. It's a great colour, not grey, not beige, sometimes looks the tiniest bit lilac in the right light.

SortAllTheThings · 17/01/2017 00:26

Ah, you don't want lilac. Misread

mrscrocopop · 10/02/2017 16:11

This looks similar to what we have in our kitchen - we have 'flint' by Laura Ashley.... ours may be a touch lighter but the tone is similar x

lashy · 17/02/2017 23:26

I've got Dulux Polished Pebble in my bedroom and don't think the colour in the photo is the same - could just be the light though.
My first thought was F&B Strong White - with brilliant white skirting, the colour looks like a very pale grey.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/02/2017 13:31

My dh has polished pebble in his office and I think it looks light blue rather than grey. It must be very dependable on the light and other colours in the room.

Picture 7 & 8 look like Farrow and Ball Shaded white (or shadow white). Second link looks a bit like Little Greene Joanna.

Yes, I know I am very late to the party with this!

What did you decide upon Legolammb?

MakeItStopNeville · 22/02/2017 14:55

Benjamin Moore's Tapestry Beige.

muze · 14/09/2017 13:28

Which Benjamin Moore paint, aura or Regal, flat or matt or eggshell? And how hard wearing do you find the BM paint in the hallway? (Currently looking to choose a BM paint and colour for those myself).
Many thanks legolammb if you have time
