We are redocorating our house and I have no idea about paint
We currently have white everywhere but it is a pure white and it gets very dirty and shows lumps and bumps in our not v smooth walls
I like the overall look tho it can be a little cold
So can anyone recommend a good white shade or just off white ?
I love the Matt of farrow and ball and the shades but it is v v expensive - if anyone knows of similar for cheaper I'd be pleased !
Also and very important - does anyone know of a chalky type off white paint for woodwork - ? I hate gloss or sheen .
Last question ! Our stairway is dark and I'm interested in paint colour for there too ! I don't like yelllow or red or purple - any other suggestions ?
Ooh forgot - bathroom - a soft gentle warm grey wdbe lovely if anyone has any recommendations pkease .
Thanks .

I was recommended Wiko Best paint by our decorator as a good replacement for v expensive farrow and ball.

Decorator said it was very chalky, but quite elastic so much better at hiding surface imperfections than f&b. I am really pleased with it, perfect finish.

It is flipping cheap, i've paid between 12 and 15 pounds for various 2.5 litre tins of it now, as they often have it discounted a bit when I've gone to buy it.

The only con is they don't really have it in stock all the time, they always seem to have the sample pots in every colour, but not the 2.5 litre tins, or only 1 or 2, so I always click and collect it now,

They have several that are just off white, Abode and Paper Linen both gorgeous, and we've just done a couple of rooms in Aylesbury duck egg which is gorgeous sort of hint of pearly green. We've put cantebury duck egg in the guest bedroom and I love it but it goes much darker than it looks online. We have a sample of Silver Birch which is a lovely soft grey but don't know if would be suitable in a bathroom.

Dulux heritage collection, in theory 'trade only' but anyone can buy it from most outlets that sell to trade, they have a list of stockists on their website. Some lovely colours very similar to F&B but much cheaper!

You can colour match farrow and ball paints for a cheaper alternative. I've used it in Johnstones paint before and that had a nice Matt finish.

I was talking to the decorator who painted the outside of ours about paints. He said Farrow and Ball was overpriced shite, he uses a shop to get the paint mixed to match the F&B colours. Dulux he recommends and also Wicks but to avoid B&Q.
