I had a new kitchen floor laid a couple of weeks ago - tiles with black grout. The problem is I just cannot get the damn things clean. If I rub the grout with a dry cloth a small amount of black comes off but if I wet it the grout comes off like shoe polish - loads and loads of it. However much I clean there is more and more. Help please

What colour are the tiles? Why did you go for black grout?! Sorry not helpful!!

Oh I feel for you! We have black grout with our charcoal tiles. We had it put in last year and I've never got it clean yet! I've had a professional clean once and plan to do so every 4-6 months.

I create mosaics and always use black grout.

Have you checked the actual grout in between the tiles to make sure it is fully set and hardened? It should have done so fully within a couple of days. If it hasn't then every time you wipe over the grouting, you will lift a little of it and spread it over the tiles. So get the tilers back in to look at it.

If the grout has hardened, then you're probably experiencing residue (black grout is a sod to fully clean immediately) on the surface of the tiles.

When I clean a mosaic, I use a lint free cloth - or an old t shirt. Wet it, then wring it out as tight as possible and wipe over the surface (small area at a time). Then with a dry lint free/t-shirt to buff the surface.

You may need to do this several times.
