Looking for new curtains and chair to go with Blackened. Any ideas? There is also F&b parma grey visible through an arch into the bathroom.

We don't have those colours but we do have pale blue grey walls (little greene french grey) and our curtains (well roman blind actually) is this:

Colefax & Fowler Vienne in Blue it's a nice grey blue, darker than the walls but still goes. They also do it in Silver which is more of a grey without the blue tint.

I also like this one, the two go well together

What sort of thing do you like? Modern/trad? Bold/soft?

Thank you for these ideas. The tones would go really well with the adjacent room which is visible from the bedroom so it would tie things together.

Dh won't cope with a patterny fabric so it will have to be plain really which is a shame as I like the patterns. He is trying to hang on to the old curtains still and averse to changing them bless him but they are 12 years old now and look a bit wrong with the new wall colour.

I always think of Blackened as a bluey grey colour but the F&B description talks of other tones which throws me a bit.

p.s. the room is fairly traditional. Large fitted in frame oak cupboards, period house, arch through to bathroom with roll top bath etc.

Hmm ok well if you have to have plain then how about a lovely velvet or even silk for some luxuriousness? If the room is south facing then you'd need to get something fairly pale as it will fade near the window otherwise.

cantthinkofanewnameatall · 18/09/2014 14:46

Love the idea of velvet.
The room has a sort of Gentlemen's Club (not the dodgy sort) feel about it somehow and that would work with the look.

Laura Ashley
Silk
Velvet
Or would your Dh cope with a patterned heading like the 3rd image?
We need pics of your room!

He won't do pattern at all I'm sure. What is the first smaller image on the left. That is lovely.

I am thinking of a flat box pelmet (made from wood and covered type) with a contrast piping on the edges if that is possible as it would be quite masculine but add interest.

Can't Do you mean the silver grey??
That's the laura Ashley one in silk

justaweeone · 18/09/2014 18:42

Forgot to say that the pelmet sounds lovely
In a couple of rooms we have had just a sort of channel but have then threaded the curtains on to it
Not sure that makes sense !

cantthinkofanewnameatall · 18/09/2014 20:39

Can you post a photo of that? Sounds interesting!

Stealth boast? Smile

cantthinkofanewnameatall · 19/09/2014 12:13

Why is it a stealth boast? Are you referring to my OP?

OP posts:
FamiliesShareGerms · 19/09/2014 17:41

Because your house sounds lovely and huge OP! (Nothing wrong with a stealth boast either) Smile

cantthinkofanewnameatall · 19/09/2014 20:41

Would it help if I told you that the F&B Blackened is actually Dulux colour matching Grin Wink?

FamiliesShareGerms · 19/09/2014 22:35

Oh yes! Grin

Thank you!
We have an old but good quality curtain rail there already so might as well use that and get a pelmet, although maybe it would be cheaper to get a pole instead come to think of it...

I'm thinking black goes very well with Blackened so a hint of that in the piping would look good. Only a tiny amount to prevent it looking 1980s masculine though!

Would a nod to (elegant) country work with your decor? Like this?

Gosh that room is beautiful. Yes that is the sort of design of the pelmet/ heavy curtains that appeals.

We've got F&B blackened in our bedroom. It's a large Victorian house with big sashes. We've got Laura Ashley Ironwork Scroll in Dove Grey as Roman Blinds. Got the material and cushions in the sale. The entire room is very muted and I'm about to post on here for advice on what colour for a canvas wall print.

cantthinkofanewnameatall · 26/09/2014 12:30

Thanks Angie. I will look that fabric up!
