I'm
Moving in a few weeks to a new build .. The downstairs is essentially one big room with an a orangery bit along the end and big patio doors . I am rubbish at interior design and have always bought things from ikea . I'm nearly 4o and me and my dh would like a grown up look to go with our lovely new home . Any websites I can go to or can anyone help ? I had a purple floral feature wall in the old house so I don't want purple in the new house . I like colour but nothing garish .. An ideas ? Tia

I would have a look at pinterest for ideas. If you search for open plan you should get some inspiration.

Have a look at Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware online.

Lots of open plan houses in the US and they have nice ideas. Pottery Barn is my current go-to for everything (am in Canada)

mumsnet central don't like me saying visit the website that's the last 6 letters of my user name, as for some reason they think it's promoting MY own website - I can assure you it's not my website - but it is a great place for lots and lots if inspirational pictures ! there's a UK version and a US version for different styles etc !

OnePlanOnHouzz · 17/09/2014 07:19

I second pinterest, search for living room, lounge, open plan etc there'll be loads of ideas. Or do it the old fashioned way and buy interior design magazines
