Suggestions please for a relaxing colour or colour scheme for our new bedroom

Moving house and keen to have a nice grown up relaxing bedroom. We're not exactly minimalist so it'll always have loads of crap in it - ours and the kids stuff, but would love to try for relaxing atmosphere anyway. Any suggestions please (specific name and brand if possible) for good bedroom paint colours that have worked for you? Thanks

I like soft greens for a bedroom. Have a look at fired earth summer lichen, pale verdigris, sweet cicely and absinth. My last house, we had the bedroom walls in summer lichen, but the linen curtains were rather like sweet cicely.

Starling egg from little greene. You really need to take into account what the light is like: South, North facing etc.

Facing north east.

Ooh so is ours. V interested in this discussion... We've got to paint the house before we move in and don't have tome to play with tester pots so were going to go with natural calico and then use soft furnishings to add colour.

So north has very clear clinical light but colour doesn't change (that's why artists prefer north facing studios), East facing rooms have bluish light which might make pale yellow colours look dirty. I would go for pale warm based green, like Acorn or Pearl pale (more grey) by Little greene. Sometimes it is recommended to use dark colours to play to the lack of light and create a cocoon like atmosphere. We had dark colour in our bedroom and I didn't like it. Another important thing is to have more than 1 source of artificial light in the room and choose light bulbs emitting warm white light.

South and west facing rooms get plenty of light, warm and highly contrasting. I would probably go for cooling and peaceful colours if it's about a bedroom. Watery blues would look good. Like Starling egg from Little Greene.

Im planning soft grey walls with pink, white and grey bedding and accessories, a touch of charcoal, and glass bedside lamps with white shades.

I haven't done it yet. Im still trying to get all the bits and pieces together.

I love the look of Echo by Little Green.

I've another facing bedroom and have painted it calluna by farrow and ball. It looks amazing - sophisticated yet relaxing. It really works withthe northern light and feels airy without being cold

but for our south facing bedroom went for a F&B colour, think it might be Borrowed Light.
We have that with very full khaki-bronze silk curtains and a toning carpet.
It's extremely restful and smart, which is what I like.
