And what do you have on your stairs?

Karmdean (sp?).
It was here when we got the house a few years ago. Easy to wipe and always looks nice.

Stairs is just ordinary carpet.

Tiles in hall and carpet on stairs. I'm not happy with the tiles. They are glossy and slippey but when I replace them it will be with more tiles. The concept is good.

Cream gloss tiles in the hall. They're slippy and show up every bit of dirt, and really could do with being mopped three times a day.

Carpet on the stairs.

carpet on both and can't wait to get rid of it! we will have tiles in the hall and probably wood up the stairs

In the hall solid oak, DH's choice he was offered flooring for the hall and dining room free from one of his suppliers. It looks lovely but it scratches easily.
Stairs are work in progress, we currently have the previous owners carpet decorated with stains from us having an extension. We will be having carpet again, wood is too noisy in a terrace. I haven't found anything I fancy yet though.

Karndean - it is pricey but indestructible and easy to clean

wowfudge · 28/07/2014 17:40

We have a mid brown carpet which is pretty good at hiding dirt - the only thing I would say is that I would pick something more heathery/marled next time as the solid colour shows the tracks of the frequently trod routes - especially between the living and dining rooms and the kitchen.

Karndean and I love it. Pricey though. And make sure you go to an expert fitter - we have Karndean in our kitchen which wasn't laid as well as the hall and have had a few problems with that. Carpet on the stairs though - DS and DH clomp up and down like pit ponies so need something soft Smile

Karndean love it Smile

Tiles. They are matt and patterned (porcelain but look like marble). They don't show the dirt too badly. Ordinary carpet on the stairs. We are changing the stairs and I fancy wood but I worry that I dc will fall on their arses.
