Argh I had settled on Dulux Timeless for living room but due to great MN advice I think I need something darker - please help!

OK so this is the black wall thing again. Someone on my other thread pointed out that if off-white is next to a black wall (and also underneath on the cupboards in our case) it will look a lot whiter due to the contrast.

We'd chosen Timeless because it was a soft off-white. What can I use instead that's soft and light but clearly a neutral, so it won't look bright white against the black? A light stone or something?

Dulux chiffon might be ok.

We have dulux timeless in the endurance range on the walls of the hall ,stairs and landing.
Not shiny

Did you try the Timeless against black? I thought it is meant to go with anything it is put beside my whole house is painted in it

egyptian cotton is great - cool, grey tones. interesting though that the endurance/diamond version came out a slightly different more beigey colour than the normal matt. had them above and below a dado rail and they were subtley different tones, which i wasn't expecting
