Does anyone know what were popular prints/pictures on people's walls in the 1970s? We are buying a house built in the late 60s and furnishing it with a mix of 1960s/70s G Plan/Ercol stuff and some 'retro' but modern pieces. I've even bought my macrame pot holder Grin

We have a massive world map which we'll hang in our living room but am a bit stuck as to what to hang in the dining area - what would have been typical of the period?

I love that picture of the horses in the waves, I was looking at one on eBay the other day.

Another vote for Mr snd Mrs Percy here. It's one of my favourite pieces and it epitomises the 70s if you get accessories that mimic it too itd look great.

Mr and Mrs Clark and Percy is an amazing picture but sadly isn't widely available as a print. Tate Modern did have a small print on its website (I bought one! Had been looking for years) a few months ago but not big enough as a wall-filling piece iykwim?

My parents also had a Picasso print, from his blue period. It matched the carpet.

Did anyone else have pictures (that were vaguely chinese I think) done in bright jewel colours on a black or navy velvet background?

Like this?

JH Lynch. My neighbour had this on the wall when I was small, we always felt she was very sophisticated and up with the latest interior fashions and trends.

That swan thing, its in the closing scenes of abigail"s party where she's showing it off as a classy piece of erotic art & her husband is dying of a heart attack and she's still going on and on about how laurence hates that picture... a fucking classic!
